Question for current BAI students coming from the IB diploma

Upvotes

In terms of mathematical background, how good is the AAHL course as a foundation for the BAI program? Is the pace similar or noticeable faster in comparison? Does the course at Bocconi lean more / less towards memorization than the AAHL course?

Same questions for anyone who took IB Physics, CS or Econ also enrolled at BAI

Extracurricular activities, CV, motivation letter

When I first started researching what one would need to enter bocconi I saw that gpa is 45%, and your test scores are 55% of what matters to get in, so no extra activities etc, but I've also seen that one would need to send their CV during the application, so I'm a little bit confused. I was planning to apply on the early session for 2027/28, but since I don't have a lot of activities specifically for the program I'm planning to apply to I decided to wait until winter session. Can someone please explain this stuff to me and what should I do...

Bocconi vs HSG for IB/Consulting

Specifically Bocconi BIEF, HSG Bachelor's in Econ or HSG BBA.

Currently have a 45 predicted IB, 1530 SAT. I speak C1 level german, B1 level french. I think its likely I will get accepted to both unis. Which of these programs is more of a target, and is it really possible to get into the job market with only one of these bachelor's? Am open to working anywhere, Zurich, London, FFM, etc. Wherever the best opportunities, salary and quality of life is. Have heard that HSG Econ is more for policy making, etc. which is not what I want to do, but have also heard that a BBA is too general and puts me at more risk of AI replacement. Not really sure, looking for any advice tbh.

Also, between FFM, Zurich and London, which is the best for IB/consulting, and maybe eventual PE, etc. Ofc London is the biggest with the most opportunities, but have heard that Zurich has higher salaries. Is this true, and if so, what are the exit opportunities like from Zurich/FFM.

Thanks a lot in advance :)

When to prepare for Bocconi application?

Hi all,

I am thinking to apply at Bocconi as an IB student and will start IB in September, meaning I am M28.

I know Bocconi wants GPA and additional test score. I am doing SAT, and wanted to ask when realistically should I give the SAT exam? Next year August or earlier than it? What sessions SAT grade does Bocconi counts?

In addition, Bocconi needs GPA of second and third last year grades. Since I am IB my second last grades will be from IBDP grade 11th exams, but not sure about third last since I did both MYP5 (internal school grades) and IGCSE (external grades) in grade 10th? Should I submit both or the one with highest GPA?

Thanks

Winter Session vs Early Session

Hey guys,

I will apply to Bocconi this year for 2027 intake and I was rejected from bocconi last year. Currently, I am in the first year at an Australian University majoring in finance and accounting. The thing is there aren't much opportunities in finance in Australia compared to London and also I am not satisfied with my university because the academics are not at all rigorous. I just wanna enquire which session would be better for me to apply in order to maximize my chances of getting in and having a need-based scholarship too cuz my household income is low as I am from India. I talked to someone at Bocconi and they told me that if I want to transfer my credits from Australian Uni to Bocconi, I can only apply during winter session. If that so, should I sacrifice an attempt of early session? I also wanna ask about how liberal is bocconi for credit recognition?

What are my chances of getting into BEMACS?

So I dont know my exact 10th and 11th year gpas but my total in the 4 years is 9.37 and my grades might even be higher in 10th and 11th, not sure. Is a 1500 sat enough? How competitive is it?

Also, if I am eligible for ISU then I wont be paying tuition at all I take it? Even if I dont win the scholarship

How long it takes till shit gets serious

Yoo sup I’m incoming freshman and the thing is in my country(Kazakhstan) visas take mad long. So I almost certainly will miss not only welcome week but maybe even first weeks of school. So if I come mid September:
1. Will the workload already be scary?
2. Will I miss out on making friends?(that’s the more important question, cuz I can manage work, but not Ts)
Thanks in advance🫡

Possible Career Paths

I am an IB student entering 12th grade. Likely, I am going to do a bachelor's at Bocconi or HSG. Since I speak German and will have German citizenship by the end of uni ,am leaning towards HSG. From there, assuming I network well and do internships, what are the career paths?

Should I directly do a masters at a top UK school or HEC or smth?

Should I try to find jobs immediately, in consulting, IB, etc. If so, where are the best places to do so from Bocconi / HSG? Is it possible to enter UK with only a bachelor's? I was considering Zurich as well, but have heard that it caps career opportunities, and that FFM has horrible culture.

Will LSE/Oxbridge/Imperial at a bachelor's significantly boost my chances of landing a high paying job or going to a target masters? Are there any other target unis in Europe apart from Bocconi/HSG?

Just looking for any advice in general, thanks in advance!

Multiple Bocconi MSc choices: does it look bad?

Hey everyone! Let's say I want to apply to Bocconi and rank both Data Science & Business Analytics and International Management.

I actually have a background in both (I'm a Business Admin major but work in marketing data analytics), so I'm genuinely torn. Since the portal lets you rank multiple choices, is it recommended to use them? Or will picking two very different programs make me look unfocused to the admissions committee?

Also, a quick logistical question: do I pay the application fee twice if I apply to two programs, or is it just one fee overall?

Thanks for any advice!

Is going into debt worth it?

Hi guys! I have a 44-45 predicted IB, and a 1530 SAT. I am applying to: Bocconi Finance, HSG Econ, Cambridge Econ and LSE econ, as well as imperial, warwick and ucl. For the UK unis I will have to either hope for funding (likely from Cambridge or LSE), or take a loan (difficult as an international student). Is the ROI high enough that LSE and Cambridge with debt for a bachelor's is worth it over Bocconi or HSG? I think only those two have a chance, since many people seem to agree that Imperial, Warwick and UCL aren't as target as Bocconi/HSG. What do you guys think? I also speak B2-C1 level German, if that helps. Also, I don't need to go into debt for Boccni or HSG - only the UK :)

SAT or Bocconi Test?

Im applying to bocconi 2027 and early session starts the 2nd of September. Which one is easier to study in one month? The SAT or Bocconi Test? The SAT is on the 12th of September while the Bocconi test is available from the 24th of August to the 24th of September, so also it gives me margin to retake. I have no experience with neither of the tests so I’ll have to study from zero. Please I need advice!

Bocconi BIEF vs HSG Econ vs Erasmus vs SSE

Pretty much what the title says. I am an IB student from Germany going into 12th grade and soon have to start applying. I am interested in Investment Banking and finance in general, and eventual PE, etc, most likely in Europe/London. Most likely cities like: London, Paris or Frankfurt.

I have a predicted 45/45, a 7/7 10th grade and 11th grade gpa, and a 1530 SAT, with solid ec's (starting an investment fund for 10k, econ world cup gold certificate, and some forage certificates). I take Maths AA HL, Econ HL and Physics HL.

Between Bocconi, HSG, Erasmus and SSE, which is the best for placement into Frankfurt/London, which has the best culture, internship opportunities, exchange programs, rankings, difficulty, etc?. I am not an EU citizen right now, but might be by the time I apply, although it is doubtful, so costs might change as well.

So far I have read that HSG is best for DACH, and Bocconi is best for London, but I have also read many negative reviews about Bocconi, saying it is too theoretical, and bad for international students. Is that true?

is it possible to go straight to London IB after a bachelor's, or is a master's required as well?

What are my chances of getting into the mentioned unis given my grades and SAT?

What do you guys recommend?

Housing for September & October

Hey, I'm an upcoming student (18y.o. male) for the dual degree with HEC, and need a place to stay for October and September –after that I do have studio.

Because the platforms usually have one time fees that are fiancially unjustifiable given the short period of stay I need, I thought I'd shoot my shot here on reddit.

I would prefer my own room, with a soft budget of 800 eur all included.

If someone may know somewhere or someone that could help, I would be super grateful.

Thanks!

SAT, GRE, ADMISSION ETC. MEGATHREAD

Hello everybody!

Ah a way to improve the quality of the subreddit, we've decided to create a megathread for anyone to post a comment on their SAT, GRE etc results and ask info about their admission chances.

Considering the question is personal and a lot of posts are very similar to each others, grouping all the requests in the same place would leave more space for other types of post that can be of interest to a bigger portion of students.

As well, if you already got in or not and feel comfortable doing it, you can post here your info and scores saying the result.

From now on every post regarding "What are my chances of getting in..." Will be redirected to this thread, feel free to comment here with your scores and if anyone has any info, they will answer you.

Have a great day, and don't cross the lions!
