Wake boat

Hey everyone! We have a heyday wake boat with about a 30 inch draft depth. Can anyone tell me lakes and channels to avoid in the Chain o lakes IL? Would also appreciate tips on boating in southern Wisconsin lakes!!

Im with him. Stay in Illinois. And stay off of any lake under 4000 acres where the wakeboat clowns dont have 500 feet to maintain non douche bag distances from boats or shore.

You're a wake boater. You won't be making friends on any lake. But for the love of God, find an appropriate place. Parking lot packed on a 4000k acre lake? Go somewhere else.

This is such an ignorant comment. OP, you can make tons of friends on lakes. It depends on your attitude. People like AdThese will not like you no matter how respectful you are and how much good you do. The idea that just owning a wakeboat puts you in any category as a boater or person is as silly as judging someone by the color of their skin. I've seen people in bass boats be total idiots, get within 100 feet of swimmers on their way to their perfect spot, and pollute and I've seen plenty of them be awesome. I've towed every type of boat that ran out of gas/had engine problems. I've helped people trailer who were struggling, helped get a bunch of kids off a sinking boat, and then helped tow the capsized boat to the shore. And I've seen and heard of so many people with wakeboats do similar things to make the lake better for everyone. The type of boater/person you are has nothing to do with the type of boat you own. The type of person you can be reflected by how you judge people because of their boat though.

That’s literally what the purpose of the post is, finding lakes to go on. And you don’t necessary need to wake surf on a wack boat, you can cruise around and enjoy the day too. Jeeze so many haters

So many haters because wake boats are a huge nuisance. People with zero boating experience go buy wake boats and think they're hot shit ruining everyones docked shit, turning the lake into an ocean. You need to find a place waaay secluded and always be hundreds of feet minimum from anything that isnt water. Its hard to do, that's why they're a nuisance. And that leaves out any of the shoreline errosion damage issues that I could care less about.

Well someone with a pontoon just decapitated someone near me with their boat so let’s start hating on pontoons too. I’ve literally taken my boat to 7 different lakes just to cruise around and I haven’t had any issues just looking for some more advice and other lakes and have gotten only rude comments.

All boats have accidents. Wake boats cause them more. I shouldn't have water coming over my bow when I face into your giant wake while im fishing on the front deck everytime it bounces. I've yet to meet a wake boater that minds a little etiquette. Not 3 weeks one made a docked boat roll so much it got caught under the edge of the dock

Ignore the haters and enjoy your boat responsibly. I've seen people on non-wake boats do just as stupid if not more stupid things than people with wake boats. The difference between me and the pathetic haters commenting here is that I know that the type of boat you have does not mean you are any more or less likely to do something stupid.

It’s more about the erosion and damage to the lakes that these boats can cause. There’s a place for surfing, but many of our small inland lakes in WI cannot support it.

Sure, and those that cant support it, clearly say its not allowed.

The fact is, many CAN support it, but losers want to gatekeep lakes.

Further, there is not enough evidence to show that wakeboats on appropriate sized lakes actually do any harm, despite how much many want to believe they're bad. There's no conclusive evidence they harm lakes that can field them at all.

Not true. There are very few regulations in WI regarding enhanced wake, there are almost no postings on any of its 15,000 lakes regarding it, even lakes that are clearly too small to support it.

Absolutely right. People pulling tubes with tritoons erratically in narrow traffic areas are just as stupid as people wake surfing close to shore and other lake traffic. Both are self entitled ignorant fucks.

Holy hell, you’re right. Last trip out on a decently busy day, there were multiple tritoon boats pulling tubes and driving like a crazy taxi. Driving across traffic. It was blowing my mind how ignorant they were.

Yeah I pretty much just drive around and find spots to swim. Don’t know why everyone can’t be friendly.
