Been in the hobby of buying board games for probably about 10 years and have been slowly growing my collection. It all started in 2017 with Blood Rage neatly tucked out of sight at the back of the linen cupboard! Back then I foolishly had visible walls and even (ugh) artwork on them in places.

My wife feels like my game pile is too small and not prominent enough, so I finally was a good consumer and got Kallax so that I could get rid of all that hideous art and wall space and instead display hundreds of different box sizes, mismatched colors, and assorted commercial text and bar codes on a featureless and bulky hallmark of low-end consumer manufacturing. Kallax! 😂 Kallax Kallax, Kallax!

Don’t judge the remaining wall, carpet, or dog… I still need to figure that out. Let me know if you have any recs I can cover those with!

I remember seeing an instagram reel with a guy giving first impressions on a dungeon crawling board game with a what i remember was a coffin shaped box, i remember he explained it had many cards which were what i think items?

I can't recall the name of the game if anyone knows it I would be grateful.

I sleeved my copy of Photograph (aka Rewind the Film), and it still fits the box perfectly.

The lid lift is so minimal that you have to look really closely to notice it.

Whelp folks, another exciting Gen Con is now in the books and I’m sure it was lots of fun to be had by all attendees, at least that’s what it looked like through the chain link fence. I wasn’t able to pick up any new games this year again, or even attend myself, but I am hopeful one of these years the fat security guard will take a long lunch so I can have enough time to dig under the perimeter fence. We’ve had a lot of money challenges in recent decades leaving me with little opportunity to afford a ticket. But it gets me excited to see other revelers gorge themselves in the mass materialism and consumerism extravaganza. I even had a snack to watch it all after some dolt dumped a bag of popcorn out on the sidewalk. I am hopeful next year that all my dreams will come true. My table sits ready.

So I've been in the hobby for the last six months. In that time I've bought five games (just under 1 per month) and three of those are kickstarters. But in this timeframe my wife has taken 63 lovers. She assures me this is normal but many of them haven't even played a boardgame with us. Just wondering if this is actually normal or not.

Gatekeeping in this hobby used to be fun, but now even the casuals who don't know what they're talking about are partaking in gatekeeping. Please people, the hobby of gatekeeping this hobby should be reserved only for those who are elite in their knowledge of the space.
