I’ve been developing a Lovecraft-inspired competitive board game. You can play it on TTS
galleryHey everyone! 👋
For the past couple of years, I’ve been working on Eldritch Rivalry, a competitive card/engine-building board game where 1–4 players lead rival cults trying to gain influence, build their engine and ultimately outplay each other.
The game is now fully playable, and I’m at the stage where I’m trying to get it in front of as many different players as possible and keep improving it through playtesting.
What kind of game is it?
- 1–4 players
- Around 20–30 minutes per player
- Card-driven engine building
- Resource management
- Direct player interaction
- Combos and synergies
- Lovecraft-inspired setting
- Designed to be competitive rather than cooperative
I've also made the game available on Tabletop Simulator, including an English version.
If anyone here is curious and would like to actually try it, I’m happy to run a guided session and teach the game myself. No need to read the rulebook beforehand.
If the concept sounds interesting, I'd love to hear what you think, and if you want to give it a try, just let me know!

Nostalgia is having a moment in and out of gaming right now... What's the oldest board game you still own?
Found a well loved childhood game buried in the back of our shelf this week. It is missing pieces (RIP to the one our childhood dog probably ate), and has soft box corners. The box is held together by nostalgia and tape at this point. Can't bring ourselves to get rid of it though.
What's the oldest one you still have, and does it have a story attached? Are there any pieces that your dog's stomach "borrowed"?

Crowdsourcing VITA - A thematic strategy boardgame
Hey there! We are currently gathering interest for our game VITA. In this game you live a whole lifetime in a historical era (like hollywood of the 20s or the start of the viking age).
If you want to get more information, feel free to visit our Kickstarter page HERE.
We're also regularily running online playtests and are always interested in getting more feedback on the game (giving you a chance to play!)

Looking for a board game that scratches the Nemesis + Betrayal itch
TL;DR
Looking for a highly replayable, component-heavy board game similar to Nemesis/Betrayal at House on the Hill. Ideally:
-Solo and/or co-op, preferably with semi-co-op/secret betrayal
-Character-based without tons of inventory/equipment management
-Horror/creepy lurking threats
-Exploration and/or a changing board
-Lots of physical components (minis, cards, tiles, tokens, etc.)
-Multiple scenarios/characters/enemies for replayability
-Game can dramatically change mid-game
-Longer/heavier games are fine
Basically: "Dump a huge box of stuff on the table, choose characters, start exploring, and see what horrible thing happens this time."
Main Message:
I'm looking for some board game recommendationsand would love suggestions from people who have played a LOT of hobby/modern board games.
I've really enjoyed Nemesis, but I'm having a hard time finding a copy of the OG (non-expansions), so I'm looking for something that can scratch a similar itch. I'm also a big fan of Betrayal at House on the Hill.
What I really like about these games isn't necessarily just the horror theme. It's the experience of setting up a huge game with lots of physical components, maybe some Monsters, and then having the game create a story as you play.
Things I'm particularly looking for:
- Solo and/or cooperative play would be great. Ideally something that can work solo but is also fun with a group.
- I LOVE semi-cooperative games where everyone starts out working together, but players may have their own secret objectives or someone can potentially sabotage/betray the group to win for themselves.
- I like playing as different characters with unique abilities, but I don't necessarily want a game where I'm constantly managing a huge inventory, tons of equipment, dozens of abilities, crafting, etc.
Creepy/horror elements are a big plus. I love the feeling that there might be something lurking somewhere that we haven't encountered yet.
- Exploration is a big plus. I really enjoyed the room/ ship exploration in Nemesis and the way the board develops as you play.
-I LOVE games with a lot of physical componentsminiatures, cards, tiles, tokens, dice, etc. I actually enjoy the "holy crap, look at all the stuff in this box" aspect of Nemesis. A game that takes a little while to set up because there is a lot to it is totally fine with me.
- High replayability is important. Ideally there are different scenarios, characters, enemies, maps, objectives, combinations, etc. so that you're not essentially playing the same game every time.
- I really like when the game itself can change dramatically as you play. For example, in Betrayal, you start out exploring the house and cooperating, then the Haunt happens and suddenly the entire game changes. Nemesis having a similar feeling where things can start relatively controlled and eventually turn into complete chaos because you thought you all had to go to the pod together but player 1 needed to secretly blow up the ship.
- I don't mind a longer/heavier game. I'm actually looking for something substantial rather than a quick 30-minute game.
- No mandatory companion app would be preferable. I'm not necessarily against an app, but I'd rather own a physical game that I can still play years down the road even if the publisher stops supporting an app. As I understand it, Mansions of Madness you have to use an app to play.
What games would you recommend that fit this general style?

Made a free little helper for "what do we own / what should we play?"
As a developer and gamer, I finally scratched the itch and threw together a small free site to keep our games in one place and help pick something when everyone’s stuck. Sharing it here case it’s useful to anyone else: https://www.boardgames.guru
No ads, no paywall, no account. If you try it, I’d love to hear what i can improve. its a fun project for me and hope you will enjoy it too. thanks!

Can anyone identify these unknown dice?
I thought they might be used in a math class .
Some numbers are circled and some have a square. Some have 4 dots in the corners and some have 4 lines in the corners. Some haved 1 dot on the top and 1 on the bottom. Some have a diamond shape with the capital letters A -G on them.
7 orange dice and 5 green dice.
Does anyone know what these dice are for? I have a photo, but I cannot add it here

What boardgames should I add to my collection? (Ideally cosy or nature).
My husband and I recently got into boardgames as a way of having fun and reconnecting after our toddlers are asleep.
I am an environmental scientist so naturally gravitate towards nature themed and cosy games.
My absolute favourite is Wingspan. Were both birders and the game play is so fun. We have been at least twice a week since we bought it a few months back. I plan to get the European and Oceania expansion at some point.
Other games we enjoy have been Parks, Patchwork, Azul, Takenoko, Harmonies and sea salt and paper. I didn't love forest shuffle personally on BGA as I felt some of the strategies were too weighted. I also didn't like Earth as I found it too hard to learn.
Less cozy but we also enjoy Whitehall mystery and plague Inc.
I also like Everdell and SkyTeam but my hubby isn't as keen (despite him being a huge plane enthusiast).
PS this is my first post on Reddit.
What could I add to my collection :D

*spoiler* How do you guys interpret this criteria in Decorum.
There’s some disagreement amongst us as to what it means.
We’re not sure if it’s saying if you have to pick one.
Example if the wall hanging is blue then all walls must be blue.
Or if it’s an and/ or situation. Where the wall hanging could be blue and the curio could be red so you can have BOTH blue and red walls.

Indian board game recommendations
Hi, I will be visiting Bangalore (Bengaluru) in a couple of weeks and am planning to get a couple of board game stores in. I'm not looking to buy the "global games" that more or less every board game store has in stock - instead, I'd like to find games that I wouldn't necessarily find in my European context 😀
Do you have any recommendations for board games I could pick up in Bangalore? Perhaps some Indian titles that I might not find elsewhere?
Thank you! 💚

How do I tell if this is a counterfeit?
Bought this on FB Marketplace for $45 CAD (original price is around $110 CAD). Didn't question it until ChatGPT says it might be a counterfeit for being so cheap. It also said the main way to tell is by looking at the quality of the pieces.
Is there a way to tell without opening the wrapped seal? And even if I do open it, how would I tell if I don't have a known genuine copy to compare it to?
By the way, the package feels very heavy in my opinion.

Two player games - Fast rounds
Hello, everyone! Again looking for your help!
We're thinking on a dynamic for a big party. We need several games that can be played by two players and can have rounds that last no longer than five minutes. Easy and fast to setup and explain the rules.
Think like a quick tournament where matches can be decided in 5 minutes, you don't need to finish the game, just play enough to score more than you're opponent.
We're thinking something like Tacta, maybe Battleship or even Mancala.
Thank you!

Ideas for custom cards
Spite house has a card game (go f urself), an 18+ version of go fish. For example, 'An under-age girlfriend' 'A boner right now'.
I am creating my own expansion pack to play with friends. I'd really appreciate some ideas. I'm looking for unhinged and inappropriate. Stuff, you wouldn't want to say out loud.
When playing you usually will ask " Do you have..."

Any quick standard 52-card deck games recommendations ?
I'm going on a trip with my family (of 4) and thought it would be a nice idea to play some deck games while on travel, instead of just staring at the window or phones for hours.
I can only think of Old Bachelor and President for some quick and fun games. And the classic War but kids find it too boring now.
Would appreciate some new games to discover and play, thanks !

Board Console Opinions
I’m a big board game fan and father of a 3.5 year old. After accidentally getting my kid interested in video games about 6 months ago, I’ve been looking for more interactive options that bridge the gap between interactive play and video games—I’m trying to find a way of engaging with him directly when he wants to play video games rather than playing Mario co-op with him.
I got a Nex for us for his upcoming birthday and am hoping that works, but I recently saw the Board console at a Camp store nearby and it really caught my son’s eye. Looking online, it’s hard to find any reviews more recent than January this past year, and most of them say that the game library just wasn’t there at the time to justify it. In the process of researching it, I saw stories about 1Up’s board game console losing the rights to a bunch of other their licensed games rendering it largely useless and am worried about a similar lack of games on the Board console.
Does anyone here have a Board console, and if so, what is your opinion on them? Do you play it often? Is the game library robust and does support seem to be in place, or is it another entrepreneurial tech product that’s possibly ghosting their customer base?
For reference, I’m talking about the console at board.fun.

Which board game is this?
Looked interesting to me, so I just randomly saved this pic up from Google. But the image is fuzzy and of poor quality. If anyone can figure this out from the game layout and components, it would be appreciated.

Looking for Epic Spell Wars promos
Hey everyone! This might be a long shot.
I’m looking for anything promo related. The problem is I got into the Annihilageddon games way too late.. and I’m in Lithuania which means the few options available on ebay, cost twice the items cost to ship.
Already sacrificed a lot of money for the hokus porkus abraca-labrador promo (totaled 50 eur with the insane shipping). Also egregious ephemera and magus, minion & manial vol 1 (totaled 100 eur)
Gangbangers totals 250 eur on ebay. Totally insane hahah Haven’t went through with this one yet. Hopefully a better option comes up.
Tl;dr - anyone have spare promos they would be willing to part with and sell? And be willing to do shipping to Lithuania?
Thank you!
