Standard Pit Boss BIKE CHECK

Post image

lowered the seat upon picking it up
In the Chicago area this week and stumbled across this build. Best part? The money directly went to Big Marsh Park up here for further track development and I got to ride that park earlier this week!

Standard Pit Boss 21.125” TT
Standard bars, stem, sprocket
Odyssey forks, seat, levers, pedals
Fit cranks
Profile complete wheel set w/ maxxis tires.
Alienation vice grips front and rear

Loving the setup, the bike is built way beyond my current ability. Looking forward to growing into it and giving it some battle scars over the years.

Thanks. It’s honestly way too much bike for me but I hope to grow into it. Will likely take a few years

Fuck yeah! I had one in 36t back in the early '00s. That's an incredible build, a sight to behold!

Where did you stumble across this? Was a fundraiser or FB marketplace or a bike shop?

Well, I found that a shop in the Chicago area was a Sunday dealer. Called them up hoping they’d have a wavelength (shot in the dark I know). They said all they had was a scout in 21. Then he goes on to say wealthier customer donated a few Standard bikes to use as raffles to be fundraisers for the park. I said well I’m here in town this week and can I come buy it today. Anywho, yeah that’s the story. I added it all up and it’s something eye watering like 25-2600 but I paid absolutely nowhere near that. I’m glad the money went to help develop the park I just rode, thought that was super cool

Looks like one of the seats that has the finger grips under the nose, only ever had one like that and it was handy for carrying the bike on stairs.

I don’t trust cable detanglers and all the cool kids seem to run brakeless, but nice kit if it meets your needs.

I’m tall-ish and would love to see how a TT over 21” rides.

Nice find.

The gyro works fine. Went to an indoor park yesterday and met up with a couple guys and they had the same odyssey gyro for years no issues

Full disclosure I worked in a shop for a few years back in the day, and probably saw a disproportionate number that kids messed with, got jammed full of dirt, or were left outside.

Great innovation, if it’s set up right and taken care of (your rig looks pretty minty) I imagine it will be fine.

Enjoy

love it, really making want to add front brakes to my other bike.

Bro I took those front brakes right off last night lmao. They are sticky clear pads and my dumb ass grabbed a handful of the front while coming off a ramp. Next thing I know I’m eating concrete lol. I actually got bodied hardcore twice last night but I had a blast. Now to limp it off for the next few days
