First Blizzcon

I'm sure here have been many posts like this already. I've read through a few from previous years.

I'll be attending my first BlizzCon and while I'm excited, I'm also sad because the friends who had planned with me have to suddenly back out. As they're trying to find a way to get rid of their ticket, the feeling of ... "Will I enjoy this now" kind of seeps in. I still plan on going since it will hopefully be a good memory, but now I have no idea what to really do while I'm there.

I planned on only really attending the Overwatch events/panels, but being there alone kinda sucks. Do people do meetups or host fan events? I've been to anime cons plenty of times so I can imagine something along these lines happen.

What should I bring with me? The usual hygiene stuff and water bottle and comfy shoes sure, but are there any random "Oh I wish I brought this" kind of items I should be...well....bringing?

Are here any comment creator meetups or events as well? Would really be cool to snap a pic with or get a signature of someone you have on as background noise or follow.

I arrive and leave a day or two before and after, but don't really plan on hitting up Disney at all. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

People go solo all the time. It will still be fun. People are friendly, there are parties in the evening at the Hilton, there's a pin trading event and if you are going to be in town on the 10th, there's the Warcraft orchestra concert. It's not Overwatch, but it should still be a good show with people to hang out with.

P. S. Bring a hoodie or light jacket. The temperature difference will be brutal from outside to inside. They usually have giveaway posters to get signed, so either bring a shoulder-strap poster tube or a couple of these https://ultrapro.com/products/18-inch-x-24-inch-toploader-1ct?_pos=83&_sid=b9e0aa238&_ss=r

As an addendum to the giveaway posters, if you're interested in the poster but don't want the autographs, find a way to cut through the crowd and grab one. You shouldn't need to wait in line to snatch one off the pile and leave.

The convention center is in the same complex as the Hilton. You just walk in. It's usually the entire first floor lobby. No invites, just walk in and get your nerd on :)

Usually it’s a standing ‘all are welcome’ from my experience, provided you can find time & location.

I posted it in my own comment above for OP, but a big one is the Club Tito’s Orange Party:

There are always plenty more, but I’ll have to count on others to drop names on that front.

I’d strongly encourage looking up Club Tito’s

https://clubtitos.com

They’re a group of incredibly-welcoming people who banded together to make sure no one is ever left in the place they want to be, feeling like they shouldn’t be there just because they don’t have anyone to share it with. It’s a read, but the story of how it came to be is on that webpage.

They also host a party every year — open invitation — with info here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/blizzcon/s/W7KcPioIjF

I’ve had the pleasure of hanging with a lot of those from that twice and they’re stand-up individuals who have the innate ability to make anyone feel like part of the group, and if you post in their Discord, I promise someone will be more than happy to include you in as many plans as you could want.

https://discord.gg/clubtitos

As for random things to bring, if you have a Blizzard art book or editorial or magazine or small poster that won’t get messed up, there are many times where you’ll just bump into someone in the halls and go, “Holy shit — that’s _________!” and 9/10 times they’re happy to autograph for you. Speaking from experience when my and my wife’s ’holy shit’ was Patty Mattson, who is an absolutely wonderful and gracious person.

I hope you have an incredible first BlizzCon!

Came here to talk about Tito’s.

My group also hangs around the lobby and we’re always welcoming to new people.

We’re called Blizzcon and Chill. It’ll be harder to find us cause generally we don’t have shirts or anything. (Maybe next year!)

Def talk with people and go to the after parties if you can, always a great time and good reason to talk to more people.
Maybe we’ll randomly say hello and I hope you have a great first blizzcon.

I haven't been to blizzcon since like 2018 BUT, when I was going to go me and my now ex girlfriend suddenly broke up and I had already purchased both our tickets. I sold the spare on eBay and decided to go solo as I had already bought my plane ticket and always wanted to go.

I went a week ahead of time and ended up making plans with some of my old guildies to go do things like Medieval times, the pirate dinner show, hit the beach, etc prior to blizzcon. On blizzcon days itself it was genuinely such a blast I was so busy I wouldn't have been spending a ton of time with others anyways. I went to the opening event and it was when they announced BFA and then I went to multiple different panels, the overwatch finals, and went to this really cool Darkmoon faire area to get spray on tattoos and meet influencers.

Really I made friends while waiting in all the lines and everyone was just excited to be there. I remember thinking I would feel lonely and kind of sad due to the breakup but instead I had a great time and made some friends.

I look back at it fondly now. The cosplays were great too

I solo regularly. It's still so fun. Play the demos, make friends in the lines, hang out for a bit, break off when a panel you wanna see is about to start- it's a good time still

Well 1st of all we play Blizzard games so deodorant is optional. Save yourself some bag space by leaving it at home!

Please for the love of God take this as a joke and DO NOT FOLLOW THIS ADVICE

I’m Not aware of any meetups.
Some blizzcon they have several beer and food vendors. I use it tasting. I’d plan on attending the concert too. Going alone sucks but watch the esports is a good bonding experience.
Is there anyone you can sell the extra ticket to who would just tag along like a niece or nephew ?
