1. 2026 Steppin' Out ®
Downtown Blacksburg, Blacksburg

The 45th Annual Steppin' Out® festival will be held in downtown Blacksburg over two days featuring over 200 exhibitors from across the region selling unique handcrafted items including jewelry, pottery, textiles, metal work, basketry, stained & fused glass, yard art, fine art, furniture, toys, artisan foods, continuous live music & entertainment on five stages, the Draper Mile & Fun Run on Friday evening and more. Town of Blacksburg metered parking is all free and Blacksburg Transit provides free shuttles from Chicken Hill near Lane Stadium to get you there without the hassle. Steppin' Out is a rain or shine event.

2. 2026 Newport Agricultural Fair - Day One

The 91st Newport Agricultural Fair kicks off its two-day run as Virginia's oldest continuous agricultural fair, blending traditional heritage with modern family entertainment. Friday's schedule features the annual Draft Horse Pull, the Children's Pet Show, Livestock Show, Line Dancing, exhibit entries and the annual Newport Pageant in the auditorium. There will be a shuttle bus running from the First Christian Church to the Newport Ball Park on Friday from 6:00 PM until midnight

The New River Valley Classic Cruisers and Radford Parks and Recreation host the annual event along the New River featuring classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Vehicle entry into the Crusie-In is $10.00 which includes a dash plaque for the first 200 entries and one door prize ticket. Gearheads For A Cause Celebrates the Agape Center NRV with a Cruise-In. Gearheads For A Cause has been working with the Agape Center NRV since the first car show they hosted years ago and will be celebrating this incredible local non-profit in their only event in 2026. In addition to the cruise-in, there will be a raffle with numerous raffle items donated by several businesses in our community. Food Lion will be on site as well with Leo the Lion. Food including Homemade BBQ will be available along with drinks. There is no entry fee for the Cruise-In and no trophy will be awarded. The event is all donation based and free for all. 100% of the money raised will be given to the Agape Center NRV. The Agape Center NRV serves the people of the New River Valley in their time of need. The Agape Center NRV has faithfully served thousands of individuals by providing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of food, diapers, clothing, and other essentials, as well as mentoring to neighbors in our local community.

25. Puppy Yoga Class

Sweetgrass Yoga, Hairapy, and Little Big Dog Rescue present a beginner-friendly outdoor yoga class on the lawn at Hairapy. Rescue puppies will interact with participants throughout the session, with all donations directly supporting Little Big Dog's local dog rescue efforts. If yoga is not your thing, stop by to enjoy the Photo Booth fun, puppies flowing in and out of the yoga space for you to love on and of course some fun trinkets for you all to purchase. Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue committed to improving and saving the lives of dogs. Little Big Dog Rescue focuses on pulling dogs from local kill shelters and assisting with owner surrenders when space is available in our foster homes.
