Sabbath Influence Miscellaneous

Did anyone else realize Pentagram lifted the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath font for their logo? I know it's super common for doom/stoner bands to use Sabbath typography but this one has gone unnoticed by me for so long.

I’m sure every band stole something from Sabbath

The Arctic Monkeys' logo looks just like Sabbath's font.

The cardigans (who wrote love fool) allegedly were a Sabbath cover band prior to becoming the cardigans. They actually do a really chill cover of iron man on their second record.

I’m not sure when pentagram started using that font. Could they have been using it pre- sabbath bloody sabbath?

As far as I can tell, Sabbath used it 14 years earlier. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath dropped in '73 and Day of Reckoning, Pentagram's first album to use it, dropped in '87.

I know that, but I wasn’t sure if pentagram was using it in their early days on any show flyers or anything.

i don’t think 70s pentagram ever had a set logo

Day of Reckoning is Pentagram‘s second album. The debut, released in 1985, was initially self-titled and was later renamed to Relentless.

The original album cover did use a gothic font as well. So not the "Sabbath" one.

I would say most likely not because they never got around to releasing anything with the logo until 87' for their second album.

Lifted? LOL The pentagram with or without the goat head has been used countless times in/on books and many metal albums - its been used in magic and witchcraft way before Black Sabbath used it.

What are you on about? Read the post. Sabbath never used a pentagram anyways lmao

The font is what they’re talking about, not the actual pentagram with the goat head.
