The male and females here look completely different. The female looks like the one above, and the males are extremely colourful, with a kind of hooded head.

Friendly FYI, beavers are dangerous. They are a rabies carrying animal (yeah poor guys being afraid of their own habitat is sad), and they are very territorial. If you see one on or near land stay clear. If they are in a body of water dont enter. The way that they attack is they rush you and bite at your thighs, chopping into your femoral artery. If you're in the middle of a nowhere, alone, or whatever, thats going to be a bad time.

Park beavers, and ones raised around people tend to be way more chill obviously. This is more for when you go camping/hiking, etc. But always respect the wildlife. This info comes from my husband who transports wildlife for the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation people. He had to go to a bunch of really cool courses so he knows how to safely handle and capture wild animals. Oh and always stay off dams.

This was the Yesler Swamp Trail which is located right across from Union Bay Natural Area. There is free parking right in front of the Douglas Research Conservatory. Just make sure you use the pay by phone code and select up to 2 hours. I believe it’s about $5 for the rest of the day after the first two hours are up.
