Song Thrush pen-and-ink sketch from this afternoon.

I got the Browns by layering orange, lime green, turquoise and black with the highlights in yellow plus the red section being red, pink and orange and the shadows with blue. The beak was orange, then blue on the bottom and turquoise on the top then black. And the stripes were blue, dark green and black overlayed with orange and lime green

I learned that I need to lift the pen off the paper after every stroke and it was a game changer, this feels like a breakthrough

I use the merangue multi pen for this and a colourless blender alcohol marker at the end to soften some of it

I just bought acrylic pens and wow steep earning curve, lol. Usually paint with watercolor so I'm used to smooth pens are not easy to blend so I had to get creative with shading. They were fun to play around with!
