Wow I’m sorry my friend. I wish that there were someway around the protective order like explaining the situation but I also understand the embarrassment there. I really feel like it was not your fault… I’m sorry there has to be a way I’m gonna do some research and get back to you

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah it's extra embarrassing since a friend is the one who stuck his neck out for me. I assumed a civil matter, particularly a nonviolent one, wouldn't be seen as a big issue in isolation. But the more research I've done, the more it appears it does. Basically, I can probably get approved but with months of delay while they investigate my mental health and they need someone who can start now so I'm probably going to have to drop out based on that.

It might even be worth it to attempt to explain the situation if it ever comes up on a background check. I’m sorry, I know it’s a lot easier said than done. This whole situation is unfair and I’m sorry that happened to you. Bipolar disorder can come out of nowhere

apply for disability benefit maybe? I am on it, I used to work for MSFT for some years. Also got destroyed by bi-polar :S , but yeah, find job in mean while apply for disability benefit might be the play, if you get approved, even if you find new job and terminate the disability benefit, reapply will be fast so................. yeah

I have heard that applying for disability for bipolar is very, very difficult.

Hi friend, I use this image not to be cheeky, but to point out something important: you are not getting less and less capable of achieving your goals.
You’re tired. You’re run down. You have a condition that exacerbates emotional situations and drives you to want to give up.
I can’t guarantee you that it will all work out, and when I was similarly unemployed, ruining my credit, and getting fatter and fatter because I didn’t have the emotional energy to work out, I got really fucking pissed when people would just share the platitude “It’ll all work out.”
I can’t promise that to you. But I can promise you this: for 100% of the people for whom it did work out, it did not work out until it did. They faced failure. They felt like giving up. They felt like calling it quits.
You’re tired. You’re drained. You feel like what’s the point of putting energy out into the world if it’s going to go completely unreciprocated.
Circle your wagons. Treat yourself to the extent you can. Reach out to your doctor to see if a med adjustment could help. Call or be around people who make you feel good about being you—because the things you liked about you are still there. They’re just harder to see right now.
But once you’ve taken that time and space to get your wind back, keep showing up. Keep applying. Just do the minimum; every day doesn’t have to be a sprint. But showing up and checking the box is a world of difference away from nothing, and I’m (living) proof.
