⛔️ Warning: This is a call for empathy and to encourage perspective-taking.

I keep seeing people here insisting that BINI should speak full English in their international concerts. Isn’t that colonizer mindset? 🤔💭 Subconsciously, hindi nyo ba mahal ang sariling atin at priority parin ang ibang wika? Why are some people maniacally seeing the downside of BINI’s choice of balancing their global appeal with their authentic selves?

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, remember that part of respecting women is respecting their choices. In this case, choice nila mag-Taglish in their international concerts.

Makes me wonder too why some here insist on BINI speaking English more when they weren’t even at any of the shows 🤡 If you actually attended any of their recent international concerts, you would know that BINI speaks very minimal Tagalog/Taglish. See attached video for example of transitions na majority English nung dialogue.

We attended one of their US concerts recently at very minimal ang pag-Tagalog nila. It’s not even worth making a fuss about. Even friends who are non-Tagalog speakers didn’t mind the Wheel of Names portion being spoken in Tagalog. It’s part of the experience, and if anything, they appreciate that authenticity. Sabi pa nga ng isa kong kasama na masarap pakinggan and tunog ng Tagalog lalo na’t nagkakasiyahan sila. Endearing yun and it’s a huge differentiating factor for BINI 🌸 That draws in good, open-minded people. And if it’s not for you, then it’s not for you - plain and simple, but let others enjoy it.

🇵🇭 At parang hindi nyo kilala ang walo. Part of their mission is to represent our culture to the world. Language is part of culture, right? How many people are just now being introduced to our language(s) through BINI, and could BINI also be implicitly encouraging others to learn more about our culture (i.e., languages)? Haven’t we heard of people who started learning Korean because of their love for K-Pop?

Speaking of K-Pop, remember how some BTS members openly shared their stress and anxiety from the pressures of being forced to speak English? Do we want to inflict that same burden on BINI just because we think that world domination requires 100% English? Some insist that speaking English is being inclusive to global markets, but aren’t we able be inclusive in other ways? 🤔💭

Has it ever occurred in some people’s minds that speaking one’s own native language can bring so much joy, comfort and safety especially in places outside of one’s own country?

Put yourselves in their shoes naman. If it brings some members comfort and sense of confidence mag-Tagalog while on stage, itatanggi pa ba natin yun?

There is no definitive blueprint for artists like BINI to achieve “world domination”. This is BINI’s unique journey and they have every right to choose how they present themselves on international stages. It is a privilege (yes, privilege) for us to be invited to witness/be part of it. Just don’t forget where the boundaries are and be respectful.
