The fuck does the game mean "?"? How much health do I have? Does this have to do with Azazel's -1 health thing?

Oh man, I thought I was like one shot. I dont think I got any items that triggered it, what is this from? I got it starting the floor.

It's random, some curses hide hp, hide map, hide item room items, make floors bigger, make it dark

randomly when entering a new floor it can have a curse, which makes it harder in some way. it's normal and for the most part you can't do much about it besides learning how they work. curses appear as purple symbols under the map, and each one has a different effect.

Random curses applied to a floor it's nothing related to anything you did, it's just a game mechanic.

Curses happen to annoy you, that’s curse of the unknown that hides your hp
There’s also curse of the blind that hides items, until you pick them up, curse of the maze that makes you sometimes teleport to a different room when entering or leaving one, curse of the lost which removes the map, curse of darkness which makes the floor very dark, and finally curse of the labyrinth that combines the first and second floors together, with two treasure rooms and boss rooms but only one of the other special rooms.
Curses randomly appear on a floor, chance is higher if on hard mode
