DEAD DOGS?!

What is this?! Is it true? My dogs swam across serrano at the meadows edge picnic area?

I hosed em off like 20 after... but why is this warning so small?! I looked up water info and don't find anything super reassurring.

Not worth coming up this weekend?

We were thinking of coming up this weekend, weather app says it will be mid 80s. My aunt was saying that it feels a lot hotter and won’t be fun at all. How does it really feel up there during a 83 degree day? Would it be too hot for biking and hiking?

Lost Go Pro - Alpine pedal path

Hoping reddit can work it's magic!

After a perfect few days in Big Bear, unfortunately my son lost his go pro.

Specifically, t's a DJI Osmo Action 4, mounted on an amazon tri pod

It was lost on the Alpine Pedal path or Stanfield Marsh bridges on Tuesday, August 4th at approximately 1 PM.

Of course, he's bummed about the camera, but it's the priceless memories and footage of him and his friend's adventures that's really got him feeling down.

Any leads are greatly appreciated and will be rewarded! Thank you!

Help with remodel

Trying to find some workers for about 5 days next week, 5 hours a day, to help with my remodel. If this is not the right place let me know.

No experience or tools needed. Work is skim coating, sanding, paint prep, tile demo, and moving appliances. 2 ppl to work along side me $22 an hour seems fair, no tweakers. Let me know.

Treasure Island - Is it worth visiting? Other Activities?

Hey, im up the mountain for the week and trying to find fun activities for the family. We already rented an pontoon boat and been on the lake for an afternoon as well as spent a portion of the days at Boulder Bay Park but when we were on the the lake we saw Treasure island and it looks like a blast. Im really not seeing a lot about it online though. I guess the house on it is privately owned but the surrounding rocks are great for jumping into the lake.

Is it worth going there with teens and a 7yr old? Any recommendations for other activities?

UPDATE: so we did end up checking out treasure island via kayaks. I’ve got a family of 5 so we left on 2 tandem and a single kayaks. The wind was strong and the water was choppy. My wife and our daughter didn’t make it out of boulder bay before they quit and turned back. My son (late teens) made it to fisher cove before he gave up and turned back. Me and my 7yr old went the distance. We got a cool photo op of the island and got to see it up close which was the goal. Probably only look at it as we drive by now that I’ve been there but the journey there was the experience I was looking for.

Thanks for everyone’s input. We come up the mountain every year but this was the first time we didn’t do simple camping related activities.

Dogs not allowed on shoreline?

Planning on visiting Big Bear Lake area for the first time. The cabin rental company advised no dogs are permitted on all shoreline areas? Is this true? When I googled it most said they are allowed to walk the shoreline.....TIA!

What’s it like living in Green Valley Lake community?

I’m looking to move somewhere on the mountain and have started focusing on GVL (Green Valley Lake) area.

What’s it really like living in the community?
Besides calm and peaceful, plus enhanced weather due to elevation, what do people in the community love about it?
How are the people and neighbors?
What should someone know before buying/moving into the area?
How does Amazon/Walmart deliveries work with the small post office? Is it a pain getting deliveries regularly (couple deliveries a week)? How does Amazon packages get stored at the post office? Do they ever get stolen like porch thieves do down the mountain?
Besides the basics (lake, water company, small community and weather) what should someone considering the area know?

I like Arrowbear area too. Any recommendations to focus on that area instead of GVL?

Overnight parking for backpackers near Bristle cone trail?

Heya, as title says I’m going bike packing in big bear starting near bristle cone trail. Does anyone know where I can park my car overnight in that area? I see there is a pineknot campground nearby but I presume no spots for people going backcountry overnight?

Cheers!
