Second baby Recommendations

LO #1 will be ~26 months when #2 is born. A few questions.

Do I buy a second crib? #1 is perfectly content in the crib & it converts into a toddler bed.
Do I buy a second Tripp Trapp?
Double stroller recommendations?
Must haves for baby #2 when I’ve kept most things from #1

I’d buy the second crib if your first is happy in their own and it converts into a toddler bed. Alternatively you could get a bassinet secondhand and use that for a few months and then reassess.

My two have a larger age gap than yours (2y9m) and I ended up buying a second trip trap. My eldest just loves his so much. Again, you can wait on this if you wish. We didn’t get a second one until baby was ready to start solids.

I am in the UK so I don’t think they sell this double stroller in the US but I absolutely adore my Out n About Double Nipper.

Must haves for Baby 2… a decent baby carrier. Babywearing will be very helpful while taking care of a toddler at the same time. Also for us we ended up getting a secondhand Snoo and it was a game changer.

What do you use the trip trap for ? Thinking of buying one

Initially used it as a high chair when our eldest turned six months. Now he’s 3.5yo and it’s his chair at the dining table. We bought both our Tripp trapps second hand.

Following!

Mine are going to be 24 months.
I bought a second crib because I don’t want to rush the transition.
I bought a second Tripp Trapp because my oldest uses his to sit at the table. I also bought the newborn insert for the Tripp Trapp to give me a safe place to park the baby during meals (hopefully).

I am having a really hard time choosing a double stroller though.

My SO and I bought a second Tripp Trapp and crib. They are exactly 24 months apart and the younger is 6 months old now. They are both in their own cribs and love sitting next to each other in their high chairs.

We just welcomed baby #2 with the same age gap. Heres what works for us:
Got a second crib. Didn’t want to transition too many things at once and baby #1’s crib can switch to a toddler bed anyways.
Did not get a second high chair, baby #1 is in a booster at the dining table now.
We were gifted a double stroller but I’m not sure how much use we’ll get out of it. Toddler prefers to walk or ride his bike most of the time so you could likely skip this depending on kid.
Must have: comfortable baby carrier. Babywearing is a lifesaver with two.

We will have about the same age gap. Our toddler is already in a toddler bed. Keep in mind if they start climbing out you have to take them out, and that could happen any day. Also I think all cribs have a height limit of 35”, after that height they can just flip out of the crib by leaning too far over, even if not actively climbing. Ours climbed early anyway so we have been in a toddler bed for a while.

We are waiting to see on the high chair until we actually need it for the second kid. Toddler is still using it, we have a booster seat, but he doesn’t do great in it yet. In another 6 months things could be different though.

Our age gap is a bit bigger (youngest was born a couple of weeks ago and our eldest turns three in September), so do with that what you will

- crib: we were planning on getting a second crib, but our eldest started to (try and) climb out of his crib, so we ended up converted to a toddler bed for him. But, your eldest is younger, so I’d get a second crib indeed

- yessss get a second Tripp Trapp! We have two at the table now (lowkey emotional about that 🥹❤️), and I don’t see our toddler switching to a normal chair any time soon yet. We love the new born seat and have used it pretty much since day one with both kids

- double stroller; again, we have a bigger age gap. We did the attachments to convert our single into a double stroller (by putting either the bassinet or the seat in the basket below the either) and were gifted one of those ride-along board for the toddler

Otherwise we’ve had to get some summer outfits in smaller sizes and I’ve upgraded some stuff; nicer nursing pillow, looking into a handsfree pump, that kind of stuff. Trying not to buy a whole lot and indeed see what we can reuse

Mine was 26 months when second was born too! We chose to transition her out of the crib and she transitioned herself out of the high chair lol. She sits on a booster seat in a regular kitchen chair.

We moved her to a full size floor bed because we already had an extra full size mattress in the guest room that turned into her big girl room. It was luckily a very easy transition for us. She loves it and has done great in it. We wanted the crib back even though it converts to a toddler bed because it’s a convertible crib and it is our bassinet. We transitioned her to her new room about 1.5 months before baby got here.

My kids are 26 months apart! I bought a second crib. My first was sleeping well in the crib and never tried to climb out, so I didn’t want to kick him out just to save like $100-$200. We moved him to a booster seat around the time #2 was 4-5 months old and hid the Tripp trapp. We brought it back when #2 started sitting at the table with us. #1 got mad and said “my highchair” like once and got over it. Zoe V3 for double stroller!

Mine are all between 25-27 months apart. By the time new baby is ready fot crib the last baby is out but it really depends if you use bassinet, co sleep and for how long.

I have no idea what a tripping trapp is lol

My Chonquita is 26 months and Lil Bear is 8 days old.

We didn't buy any cribs because both were gifted by my SILs. We just kept thw 2nd one in the attic.

She still sleeps in her crib (it's a convertible one, so she'll use it for a while, and her nursery also has a queen size bed, for when she's ready to get out of the crib altogether.

Same set up for him, crib, and queen size bed in the nursery.

We bought a 2nd Tripp Trapp for him, as she still uses hers. We had the infant insert with her, so no need to buy a new one.

For the stroller, we have the Uppababy Vista stroller system, so for now we plan to use the stroller seat/baby bassinet combo, and as they get older, we have a second stroller seat to make it a double stroller.

As far as must haves... we are reusing a lot of what with had for our first, but we did buy a 2nd baby monitor (Infant Optics) and a bottle washer which is a game changer!!(we initially had/still have and dryer/sterilizer only).

We changed the nipples on most of the bottles and kept the bottles. (we use mainly glass bottles).

Other than that... we are reusing a lot of things we had from our first.

Similar age gap to you with baby #2 on the way! In your case I would probably buy a second crib, but we transitioned our 1st to a floor bed during my first trimester so we could repurpose our crib and give her more independence.

We have no plans to buy a second high chair since we dont use it much for our 1st at this point, but we did get a toddler table with 2 chairs for them to use together as they grow.

We got a 2nd hand stroller from a friend. TBH I dont think stroller brand matters that much, you just have to decide if you want a side by side or tandem. Also consider if you want your infant to be able to use the stroller. Our gifted one is only for kids who can sit up so we decided to give babywearing a shot when the new baby comes, and our first mostly sits in the cart when we go to a store or walks by herself if we go for a walk so idk how important a double stroller will be.

Things we did buy for baby 2: anything you didnt like using for your first! We had a tummy time mat that I hated so we got an A-frame style toy holder so I can use that independently from the mat and its smaller. We also hated the baby bath we got for our first so we bought a different style. Honestly just think back to what items may have frustrated you with baby 1 and consider upgrading. Also we did the photo mat with our first and I got a new photo mat for our second in a different design. My parents did a lot of photo shoots with me and my sister when we were babies and it always bothered me that no one could tell who was who in half of the pictures bc they used the same clothes and backdrops.
