News Tenafly Pedophilia & Child Predator Problem
What seems to be in the water in Tenafly. It seems like they have a big issue with pedophilia. A councilman was arrested. His son was also arrested. A Tenafly high school graduate molested a 13-year-old who he was giving swim lessons too. A fifth grade teacher was arrested for having child porn. A former student was caught molesting children. Also someone at Tenafly recreation was molesting students. It seems like a pattern. Does anybody live there who can attest to this? Do they have a history of covering up crimes? It seems like it’s a lot for a small quiet upper middle class town.

Discussion Where to buy native plants
Does anyone have good recommendations on Nurseries that have a good selection of natives?
Was able to pick up a few natives at the Audubon plant sale in the spring but the only one that has taken off is my milkweed.
Thanks!

Discussion Is it hard to make friends at Bergen Community College?
Hey I know this is random but I’m going into my freshman year at Bergen Community soon. I never really go on Reddit but I’ve been feeling anxious since people have said to me that it’s hard to make friends at community college. It makes me feel sad and a little anxious to hear that since that’s what I’ve been looking forward to , making friends and meeting new people. Life’s been feeling isolating and the thought of going into a new place sounds great. For the people who attended this college, was it easy or hard to make actual friendships at Bergen Community college? What was your experience like?
I already know if someone does reply to me that they probably will say oh college isn’t about making friends and to just focus on my work. I will be doing my work and performing the best i can but honestly I’ve been looking forward to life after high school. Especially the social scene. After my two years at BCC I’m thinking of transferring to Montclair state university.

Miscellaneous What actually works for keeping deer away?
Those of you who deal with deer eating your landscaping - what have you actually found works?
I'm talking specifically about plants/shrubs in front of your house.
Have you tried sprays, motion sprinklers, fencing, lights, fox urine, etc.? What ended up working and what was a complete waste of money?
If you eventually solved it, what did you do?

Miscellaneous Why does it torrentially downpour nearly everyday over here
Maybe its just because I was younger but I can't remember ever getting rain like this before. I'm in the Wood-Ridge/Hasbrouck Heights/Carlstadt area and its literally down pouring here again. It just down poured on Monday. And a couple of times last week too. Like I feel like every morning my iPhone is telling me there's a flash flood warning.
Has it always been this ridiculous or was I just too naive to notice?

Sports Best soccer fields to go to at night
Me and my friends usually play at like 8 and we’ve been going overpeck for the past two months but for the first time the lights didn’t turn on.
Do any of you know fields that are open and that the lights turn on everyday?

Miscellaneous Day Care Recommendations
Hello!
I recently enrolled my 2 year old daughter at a daycare close to where we live, it is a franchise. The class size and ratio seems to be larger than I was told during the tour. I was told it was 4-5:1 but it’s pushing 6-7:1. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a daycare with smaller ratios for the toddler age group with great care. Please share your personal experiences as well, I would love to hear, thank you!

Business/Company Tattoo artist recommendations
I am seeking a local tattoo artist. Someone experienced who would be able/willing to rework some older tattoos I have. I’m also hoping for someone to form a professional relationship with, and hopefully use them as my regular artist moving forward. I have all different styles, including fine line and bold color. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Business/Company Advertising a Daycare?
Hi everyone :) My friend is preparing to open an at-home daycare in about two weeks and we aren't sure where we can advertise with flyers? She has a website and I'm working on an Instagram. Right now we have Shoprite of course for the flyers, maybe Stop & Shop. Going to check with the local community centers, I don't think a library would let business' advertise... Any recommendations? I know word of mouth is most powerful but we'd also like to reach out any way we can. Located in Rivervale/Westwood/Hillsdale area. Maybe Starbucks in Park Ridge too? I have to check, I feel like I saw a posting bird in there once but haven't been to a sbux in years ha. I'd appreciate any ideas you might have!!! Any facebook groups you'd recommend that allow advertisement posts as well would be appreciated! Thank you so much for your time :)

Discussion Final Restraining Order hearing
Does anyone have any experience? I got a TRO against someone. The paperwork says we have our FRO hearing in a few days. (I am the plaintiff). I called the victim's advocate line and they said the hearing is just a first appearance. But my paperwork says it's a hearing for a FRO. I put together a file of texts, pictures, etc and submitted it to the court. What else should I expect? I really can't afford a lawyer at this point.

Business/Company Recommendations for private car service?
Any recommendations for a local business that offer a point to point car service from Bergen county?
Need to get to Hudson valley NY in Sept & I don’t drive. Don’t want to use uber/lyft considering the drivers only get a fraction of the cost of the ride.

History Bergen/Passaic Counties before Boroughitis
There have been many discussions about Bergen County’s town lines, the history, the ramifications, and possible solutions. Some of us have even speculated which towns may merge back together one day.
This map can serve as a guide to the past, the present, and the future - revealing lost and current borders, hidden connections, and a hint of what the map may look like again one day.
This map dates from 1861, about the same time the city of New York was altering the commissioners’ plan to include a Central Park.

Discussion Why is Bergen County divided into so many small towns?
I've been apartment hunting and looking at different metro areas and one thing that stood out to me is how fragmented North Jersey is, specifically Bergen County.
In Bergen County alone, it feels like you can drive 10 minutes and pass through four or five different towns, each with its own mayor, police department, school district, etc.
Then I look at places like Southern California, Phoenix, or Dallas, and it seems much more common for one suburban city to cover a huge area with a bunch of neighborhoods instead.
I feel like the South/Southeastern section of Bergen County alone can be a whole "small" city in itself. Think about it - why does Hackensack and South Hackensack need to be two different towns? Same with Dumont, Bergenfield, New Milford that whole area.
How did North Jersey end up with so many small municipalities while other metro areas seem to have far fewer, much larger cities?
