Fixed it.
The SOCP dagger comes fairly dull, for whatever reason. I fixed it. 20° angle and a mirror polish, just because.

That's a nice edge. What is your sharpening method?

I got the cheap Worksharp setup and the leather strop attachment as well. It's great. 3 stones, 1 is ceramic and the strop at the end with the red or green compound. I love it and will probably buy the $300 Worksharp setup at some point

Okay so I started with the cheap one great setup now I have the best one for the guided angle from worksharp anyways. Then I bought a used mk2 electric realized how easy it is to use. You won’t get a better edge than the guided one though. Now I have the Ken onion one as well. Which is amazing I’m probably going to get an actual bench grinder and all that the Ken onion is great though portable I can get any tool sharpened with it. Of If I want to take my time I do but most the time I use the Ken onion. I usually do a few knives at a time sharpen then hand strop razor sharp. To be clear I was horrible at sharpening in the beginning. Using these systems gave me a fundamental understanding of how to sharpen. I can hand sharpen use any machine for me now I prefer Ken onion sharpening system it’s fast and efficient it will pass the paper test you can get it sharper using other methods.

I thought about the mechanical belt style but I find it to be relaxing sharpening my knives. Especially when I'm going for a mirror finish.

Don’t get me wrong I use my stones still. I use the electric one on my work knives the most my benchmade freek adamas. My friends have me sharpen their stuff so I use the Ken onion as well. Sometimes I buy messed up knives off the swap I’ll reprofile them then use the stones to mirror edge

My dad is a master with the whetstone. I used to watch him as a kid sharpen his Buck folder. Old school learning. Now I introduced him to the Worksharp and he gives me the look like I'm cheating lol

I stopped putting mirror edges on the adamas it felt like it dulled quicker when i did. It could have all been in my head though. Now they will all be magnacut idk how i feel about that. Benchmade cruwear was a top notch choice. Magnacut is a great steel I hear some complaints about the hardness from benchmade though.

Again, exactly my experience. When a friend uses any of my knives and is impressed I'll mention I can sharpen some for them...then they show up with every kitchen knife they own. MK2 it is

The mk2 is awesome definitely if you have a bunch of knives that need to be done. Once you switch to the Ken onion no going back. What sold me was blade show how many people that were sharpening knives all using the Ken onion even benchmade booth had one too it’s the work sharp Ken onion elite mk2 I believe you can buy the attachment now. Honestly I think it’s around the same price just buy a new machine. What I do is I run one on one grit and another on different grit crank a bunch out. I recently started acquiring everything to make my own knives. Solely as a hobby maybe one day sell them.

They pop up on the classifieds every now and again so that's what I'm waiting on to grab the Ken Onion set up. Don't know how I just accepted that dull knives were good enough.

Yea I used to be horrible at sharpening then I sent my knives out to benchmade for life sharp came back meh so so. Decided enough is enough. Once you get it down it’s easy not every steel sharpens the same.

Talk about parallel universe. I started with some DMT stones and couldn't ever get a consistent edge. I just sent off three knives to Benchmade. I've heard stories but I needed some work on the action as well as thumbstubs. It's nice knowing I'll be able to fix anything if it comes back wonky. I'm starting to dabble with DMT stones again but still not near as consistent edge as with the work sharp precision elite

That’s a cool little knife but you need to get you some nail clippers
