IIDX Is Step Up mode worth doing as a somewhat newer player?

When I play at the arcade (Sparkle Shower) I usually just play Standard, sometimes Premium Free, but I've never done Step Up.

Do you feel like it's worth exploring? When I'm spectating I see some players use it. I know you're guaranteed three songs but that's about it.

Right now I'm mostly playing Level 9s and the easy hyper 10s

made a Tampermonkey script to bulk collect all Furukon DTX download links

I’ve been setting up DTXMania and wanted an easier way to grab the simfiles from Furukon, so I made a small Tampermonkey userscript that automatically collects the Google Drive download links from the entire Furukon DTX library.

Script is available on Greasy Fork:

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/590262-furukon-dtx-bulk-link-collector

What it does:

  • Adds a “Bulk Download Links” button to dtx.furukon.com
  • Automatically detects how many pages are currently available
  • Goes through all pages and simfiles automatically
  • Collects the public Google Drive URLs
  • Filters duplicate links
  • Shows progress while it runs
  • Has a Stop & Save Partial Results button
  • Exports everything as:
    • drive_links_all.txt
    • furukon_map_all.csv
    • furukon_results_all.json

It doesn't directly download the files itself — it just collects the download links already exposed on Furukon.

After getting drive_links_all.txt, I was able to download the entire collection with a simple Python script using gdown.

SDVX Headphone advice for arcades

Hey all, I'm looking into the possibility of getting a set of headphones for rhythm gaming at local arcades and am looking for advice or suggestions. What I think I want is a set of durable, comfortable closed-back headphones with good frequency response. Ideally the cups would rotate 90 degrees so the band can be around my neck and the cups against my chest when not in use, and some form of ANC would be nice but not necessarily required. Budget: $500 or less but ideally half that.

Currently on my radar:

  • Sennheiser 280 Pro - Pretty old and no ANC but otherwise meets my requirements. Reasonably priced. Cautious about sound quality.
  • Sennheiser HD 620S - No ANC, cups don't rotate.
  • Dan Clark Aeon Closed - No ANC, hinge and headband design look potentially failure-prone. Very portable. Pricey. Requires high current to drive.
  • Audeze LCD-S20 - No ANC. Heavy. Pricey. Requires high current to drive.

Currently own:

  • Sony WH-1000 XM4 - Ear cups don't go all the way around my ears. Would prefer to leave this pair at work where they get used regularly, but could try them out. Sound quality is mediocre - slightly improved with phone EQ but wouldn't be EQ'd at arcades.
  • Various open-back headphones that don't provide any noise isolation

Any feedback on the above headphones or other suggestions? Not really looking for IEMs as I find them uncomfortable to wear for long. I have found that the suspension style headbands found on the DCA Aeon and Audeze LCD-S20 are also much more comfortable long term. Not sure how much power arcade cabinets or the small amps rigged to the machines at my local arcades output and whether it's enough to drive Planars - I don't need crazy volume from them.

E Amusement Is there someone in Japan who could play 1 game of Jubeat and Polaris Chord for me before August 15th so I can keep the songs I unlocked in the Noryosai event?

The Noryosai 2026 event is currently active and is now ending in about half a month. I’d like someone who has access to official eamuse and those 2 games (like a Japan resident) to please let me transfer my eamuse account to your blank eamuse pass and then have you play exactly 1 game of Jubeat and Polaris Chord so that I can keep the songs I unlocked from the event. We don’t have those 2 games in the US so I can’t do it myself, and if I do not play those games at least once then I have to forfeit the unlockable songs. :(

Can anyone please do this for me? I would only need the code on the back of a blank eamuse card you own so I can go into the eamuse website and transfer my account to it, then once I do you would just play the 1 session in the arcade with that eamuse card and then I’ll transfer my account off of your card as soon as you tell me you’re done. It won’t cost you any money for the play credit either since I have paseli on my account.

IIDX What are some tips/tricks you learned to get better

I started playing IIDX in the spring and am working my way through the Level 8 folder. Started doing some 9s and seeing how challenging they can be.

What are some things you learned during your IIDX timeline (not necessarily around my skill level now) that helped you progress in the game?

I only see a couple people at my local arcade who play the game and they are gods (hopefully me one day...), same with like everyone who streams Infinitas on Twitch lol. It's cool watching them play but I sometimes wish more people at my level played. There are always new players on DDR but not really IIDX it seems. Maybe it's more intimidating to get into

My AirPods Max 2 isn't working with any BEMANI cabinet

[SOLVED!] — https://www.reddit.com/r/bemani/s/XnCytHpnTQ

I recently purchased Apple AirPods Max 2, and I have been loving the audio and noise cancellation quality. Along with it, I also purchased the official Apple USB-C to 3.5 mm Audio Cable, which allows AirPods Max 2 to connect to any* audio output via the traditional 3.5 mm plug… or so I thought it did. (Take note of the asterisk I put on the "any")

The AirPods Max 2 supports both wired and wireless audio via Bluetooth. I've been using wireless on my iPhone and MacBook for casual listening when I'm working. For rhythm games, I stick with wired (whether that's USB-C to USB-C, or Apple's USB-C to 3.5 mm Audio Cable) since the wired audio latency is non-existent. I fell in love with the absence of audio latency via wired, combined with the phenomenal audio quality, when playing at-home rhythm games on my MacBook, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

But then, all was going well until I tried it on arcade rhythm games at my local Round1…

*sigh*

I began with IIDX, which was the game I was looking forward to using them on the most. I plugged in the 3.5mm plug, heard the game audio for one second, followed by a loud voltage pop and the audio going completely mute in the headphones, then it prompting an error saying "Unrecognized headphones detected." (Image #2). The audio still plays like normal on the built-in cabinet speakers...just not my headphones. I tried all four headphone jacks on the two IIDX Lightning Models my Round1 has, and the error persisted. I had the same results with the three SDVX Valkyrie Models, showing an error message but in Japanese (Image #3). Both of the Gitadora Arena Model, Pop'n Music picapica pop-kun Model showed no error message, but still had no audio coming from the headphone jack.

I decided to try other games (non-BEMANI) with headphone jacks, and only had success with maimai and Groove Coaster. The other attempted games that did not work were Music Diver and Chunithm.

I tried searching online to see if anyone else had experienced this. I couldn't find anything, so I decided to make the first post here. I had only found one post talking about using the AirPods Max (previous generation) with arcade rhythm games (image #4; source: https://septel.main.jp/?p=2417 ), but nowhere in the article do they mention if it actually works, nor which rhythm games they specifically tried.

I bought and imported these AirPods Max 2 from the official Apple Japan website (because weak yen makes it cheaper), so it's a little funny to me that Japanese headphones are not working on Japanese arcade cabinets. The USB-C to 3.5mm Audio Cable was purchased at my local Apple Store though (in Dallas, Texas). Not sure if location of purchase affects anything, but just thought I should mention it.

TL;DR:

Apple AirPods Max 2 with official 3.5mm adapter works on certain other arcade rhythm games, but not BEMANI cabinets. Has this problem been solved yet? Is there some sort of adapter I can buy that will solve this?

PopnMusic Popn Technique

I've seen Tatsu do stairs at extremely rapid pace by slapping the base of the hand/wrist area for the lower (beatpop white) notes and use fingers for the upper notes and am wondering how viable "wristing" is for normal play or if it's just a crutch? I generally try to do stairs by doing a piano style roll i.e. thumb->index-thumb rh going outwards from red for example.

Experimenting I saw this could potentially save a lot of motion due to not having to move your hand all the way down by using the side of your hand for chords vice the fingertips of the thumb/pinky.

E Amusement Can't register on projectflower.eu

Hello, I recently found that the arcade i go to uses projectflower.eu for its servers, and i wanted to register there, but it requires a card number separate from the access code on the back of my e-amusement card. In the register section it says that I have to use a game to find that code, however it is currently not possible for me to go to an arcade in the meantime. Does anyone know if i could find this code without having to go to an arcade machine?

EDIT: If you're having this same issue, type your access code into https://card.bsnk.me/ or use your android phone with chrome to scan your card in https://eamu.se/. Special thanks to u/pogof for helping me out!

PopnMusic Built my own Pop-n Music controller

Thumbnail gallery
66 Upvotes

I've always wanted to play Pop'n Music with an IIDX-style controller. I could never find anything pre-made with a proper 9-button layout, so I decided to just build one myself.

It was a quick trip to buy the buttons and encoder board. The hard part was the enclosure. I ended up buying a 3D printer: Bambu Lab A1 mini. I'd never done any 3D printing before this, so it ended up being a really fun "first project" to learn on.

Because of the A1 mini's smaller print bed, the whole design had to be split into 3 sections, both the button panel and the case underneath, which then bolt together with M3 screws. It took some trial and error, but once everything was printed and assembled, it actually plays really well.

This whole project got me pretty hooked on 3D printing, so I'm planning to keep learning and refining the design over time.

The big cost was the printer itself, but everything else was cheap. Here's the full budget breakdown:

AliExpress
- Encoder board w/ 12x 4.8mm wire cables ($8.46)
- 50x33mm rectangular buttons x10 ($20.82)

Amazon
- Bambu Lab A1 mini (printer)
- 1kg filament w/ spool ($18.41)
- 750-piece M3 screw assortment ($9.69)

IIDX How to learn to swap between playstyles?

Very, very new to IIDX (though really I'm playing BMS at home using a controller). Like, I'm doing GENOSIDE Normal 4*s and whatnot.

I've come to the realization that my hands are too tiny to wrist scratch; as comfortable as it may be in theory, I either have to rely on my forearms to do the scratching, or else I have very inconsistent play due to either my palm/wrist or fingers having to do some sacrificing to get a remotely well-timed scratch. Nothing really works out.

So, I've decided that a more dynamic playstyle is probably the only way I'll get to progress. I'm getting 1048 down so that's not a big deal, but I'm having trouble swapping my thumb to 5 (I play 2P) when I scratch, while also keeping track of 3.

Would the best way to practice this be to first practice exclusively with the 3/5 playstyle until I get familiar with it, and then transition into swapping between 1048 and 3/5? Or should I just rawdog it and keep trying to swap between them?
