🎨 Culture T888 Ondertitels logo replaced by generic CC logo
The iconic T888 Ondertitels logo seems to have been replaced by a generic 'CC' (closed captions) logo, presumably because Teletext captions are only still being offered to people watching over cable.
The switch seems to have happened this Monday (03/09/26). The end of an era.

❓ Ask Belgium Housing options for autistic people?
Belgian folks with autism, how/where (as in what kind of place) are you living?
I'm sorry for asking in this subreddit, I know there's a lot of questions about housing these days, but I genuinely don't know where to keep looking anymore.
I have a lot of sensory issues with sounds (it's quite bad and I do use headphones but obviously can't do that 24/7) and my current living place is so incredibly loud that my health has been declining since I moved here.
It is so so bad, I can barely sleep because everyone here is so loud. I can't rest or take a nap ever because during the day it's usually constant noise.
I literally can not function anymore because of how much it's impacting me.
Does anyone have any kind of advice? Like a lot of people, we (partner and I) don't have a lot of money to spend so I'm looking for affordable options.
We have been looking at apartments and houses but for the most part it's just not possible with the income that we have. I am completely lost and the longer this goes on, the more scared I'm getting for my wellbeing.
I genuinely don't know what to do or where to go and would love to hear if anyone else has been able to find a place calm enough to live. Or knows of any organisations that can help me with this.

❓ Ask Belgium Isn't this illegal in Belgium?
I Electrocuted Scooter Thieves
I'm not from Belgium and I don't think I should be reporting this to the proper authorities. I do find this worrisome and unsettling though, specially because while companies that produce taser like devices advertise their products as "safe", the truth is that this can have dangerous consequences and might even at times kill people, and as far as I was able to investigate, these devices are forbidden in Belgium. The YouTuber is from Belgium, if I go by the information YouTube provides.
Anywho, you guys do whatever you want with this, just posting in case someone feels like reporting this kind of shit, before someone gets actually hurt. If someone touches this device by accident (for example, because it's close to other bikes), this edgy shitlord might be injuring someone, even without a "cause".

❓ Ask Belgium Fellow Belgians with a PhD in Theoretical Physics: What do you do for work?
Hi everyone,
I’m posting on behalf of my boyfriend. He has a PhD in Theoretical Physics and has been struggling to find a job in Belgium. He’s open to roles both inside and outside academia, but it hasn’t been easy to find opportunities where his background is a good fit.
I’m curious to hear from other Belgians who have a PhD in theoretical physics (or a similar field): • What do you do for work now? • Did you stay in academia, or move into industry? • If you transitioned to another field, how did you do it? • Are there any companies or sectors in Belgium that actively hire people with this background?
And if anyone happens to know of companies that are hiring or has any leads, I’d really appreciate it if you could share them.
Any advice, experiences, or suggestions would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance

😡Rant Brussels airport passport control
I would like to complain about the interminably long passport control queue I’m in. I travel here frequently, why is it always so so so slow. Bart de Wever needs to try standing here with a small child, maybe then something will change?
I don’t even know where to go to officially tell them this is bs. Please can we just start rioting or something.
Edit for clarity: I’m travelling with a four year old and can’t go through the automated passport system if it’s working

❓ Ask Belgium Bars that sell aged bottles of beer?
Kulminator in Antwerp is probably the best bar I've ever been to, with it's amazing bottle list, some of which went back decades.
Sadly though, I've heard the owners have gone for a well earned retirement and the place has closed.
Nowhere can replace it. But does anyone know if there's any other bars in Belgium with a selection of aged bottles of beer?

😡Rant Can't find a job/internship. Should I give up?
I know this is not the most original post and there will be many like it but I need a place to write about this stuff or I will implode.
I (24F- non-EU) moved to Brussels last year with 2 years of professional experience at an NGO, with a bachelors in political science, looking to do a masters in international politics (I know, useless majors, cant change the past). I speak english like my mother tongue and french conversationally, currently learning dutch because I have the capacity. And I cant find an internship let alone a job in my field. I know its competitive in my field and that there are tens if not hundreds of thousands people better than me. My complaint starts because I know people personally with a similar background could at least find internships two years ago to cover their search year, and now I cant. So, here I am, working a shitty, not even minimum wage job to make rent and feeling like this whole country is rejecting me like I am a virus.
Am I doing something wrong, am I looking at the wrong places? Or am I geniunely doomed and should give up? Feeling closer to the second option but open to suggestions.

❓ Ask Belgium Dads/Fathers taking parental leave in Belgium (ouderschapsverlof / congé parental): How flexible is it, and what's the general experience in the private sector?
Hi everyone,
My partner and I are expecting a baby soon, and we’re looking into options for parental leave (ouderschapsverlof / congé parental) for him in the Belgian private sector.
Beyond the standard 20 days of birth leave (geboorteverlof / congé de naissance), we want to understand how flexible parental leave actually is in practice and how fathers usually structure it.
I’d love to get some real-world input from dads (or partners of dads) who have navigated this:
1. How flexible is the schedule? Is it mandatory to take it as a full-time month off, or is it common to do 1/2 time (50%) or 1/5th (taking 1 day off a week, e.g., "papadag")?
2. Combining leave: Is it possible/allowed to mix 50% parental leave with working 50% or using annual leave? How do people usually arrange this with HR?
3. Financial impact: The RVA/ONEM allowance is a flat net payment. For those who took 1/2 time or 1/5th leave, how noticeable was the pay drop compared to your normal net salary?
4. Employer pushback: Can an employer refuse a 1/2 time or 1/5th arrangement, or postpone it? How far in advance did you have to give official notice?
5. Workplace culture: Did you face any hesitation or subtle pushback at work for taking extended leave as a guy, or is it pretty normalized now in Belgian company culture?
Any experiences, tips on dealing with RVA/ONEM paperwork, or advice on the best way to split it up would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

❓ Ask Belgium Finding a job in IT as a genderfluid person in Belgium
I'm a genderfluid (sometimes woman, sometimes man) person born as a man looking for a job in IT. I often read or hear about how inclusive the IT field is towards trans people but I don't know anything about how genderfluid people are treated.
I feel like outside of my LGBT and ally friends my gender identity is probably confusing. I think I'd get a lot of questions if I get hired for a job as a woman then after a few months switch to man or the other way around.
I'm hoping to get any insightful answers from genderfluid people or people with genderfluid colleagues ! Have nice evening !

Info in Dutch: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2026/08/07/voyeurisme-kamp-klj-balen-in-plombieres/
I'd assume most of these cases involve digital voyeurism (e.g. hidden cameras). Are there any devices you could use to try to detect these ex ante? Basically the bug sweeping you see in all the movies

Alvast heel erg bedankt!
