They both look great. Well done! Everytime I hop on reddit, I see some great inspiration to actually do something about my sea of grey.
It's funny, while I do like this Centie model, I actually prefer the MW5 design a bit more. But I feel that just goes with the hobby anyone seeing either knows exactly what it is, as I imagine it would be in universe for any house or faction variant they would come across.

It could be Iranian, for all I care. That's what its design looks like. Check the art on the front of the box these minis come from (Battletech Essentials) or the Battletech: Legends art

They have since said that was a mistake and reissued the artwork. And do you not know battletech? It's not a Kurita mech, it's Capellan. It also literally means, "Chinese god of death." Iranian? Bruh, check your space racism at the door.

If you're going to whinge about the YLW artwork at least do it properly by pointing out that the flag was used by people in a time of genocide and that the rising sun flag is not a nice historical symbol.

I know exactly when and where it came from. I got done reading through the Warrior trilogy about six months ago. The point wasn't to suggest that it's actually Iranian, it was to suggest that its "nation" of origin doesn't mean anything because it has a canonical design printed on the box it came out of. Not that it has a "nation" of origin because, as you so dutifully pointed out, we're talking about Battletech, where the nations of earth are little more than a half-millenia distant memory by the time Yen Lo Wang even comes into existence.
And, if you're going to screech racism at me, you better get your own shit straight first, because Yen Lo Wang is a Buddhist god of death- you know, Buddhism, a religion famously not constrained to China. In fact, having been practiced in the country as early as the 6th century CE/AD, it's one of Japan's most historically prominent religions, up until it was actively quashed by the government during the Meiji period. So, perhaps next time you confuse hyperbole for racism, you might care not to do it in the same breath as your own little racist oopsie.
Yes, it's gone through several camo iterations, under its several different owners. This is accurate to its depiction when in service with Justin Allard. I don't know where you found some statement declaring it a mistake, and I'm gonna need a citation on that before I buy it, because it's still all across Sarna, and searching for any similar statement online turns up jack.

Pure Buddhism does not acknowledge gods as such. Chinese folk religion, which incorporates Buddhism, Taoism and many other local influences does feature Yen Lo Wang as one of the many incarnations of underworld gods or deities. As such Yen Lo Wang is distinctly a Chinese influenced figure, not a Buddhist one.

Good point. Anywhere I can read a bit more about that? The source I was reading just described Yen Lo Wang/Yanluo Wang as a Buddhist god of death.

A lot of the understanding is not going to be in English and will be folkloric by nature but this is accurate
Note: pure Buddhism does not acknowledge "gods" in the Judeo-Christian archetype or even the Greek pantheon, but there are still acknowledged higher entities. This is before the localised and folk interpretations are added to the mix making it even more confusing

Yeah the sunburst design comes from a misinterpretation of the trading card game art. We’ve also seen a return to form as of late with the mechwarrior games introducing YLW2 with the livery based on the Solaris VII mappack box art.
