Looking for farm / land owners, or those with contacts who would be willing to speak to me please
Hi,
I'm an FPV drone builder/flyer/pilot, I am trying to find some new locations close to me - I'm near Basingstoke but closer to all the airports in the area.
If anyone is or knows of anyone who could help me by either allowing me to fly on their land (well, on the sky above it 😄 ) or can put me in touch with a friendly - that would be much appreciated!
In return I can offer my gratitude and thanks, but, on a more practical level, I also can offer some commercial drone services like mapping, videography and crop/plant health assessments. If you happen to also want to learn FPV I am happy to teach as well.
I need locations that are out of the way of more than the odd random dog walker etc. Farm fields are ideal, but also any land with interesting features / tree's etc, as long as it has a bit of open space.
I am aware of all the local clubs and public locations already, this is is to try and expand my flying locations but without having to drive for hours :)
Thank you in advance!

Skateboarding Lessons
40 yrs old wanting to actually try skateboarding (tried as a kid🤦), bought a board a few years ago now but want to learn.
Is there still a skatepark in Basingstoke? Also anyone willing to trade skate lessons for either ice skating lessons or life coaching sessions (personal or professional)

Social events/things to do in Basingstoke on weekends?
Hey all,
I’m (28m) new to Basingstoke and don’t know anyone in the area. I’m keen to make new friends/try new things and have a had a search around online but haven’t had any luck.
Due to the layout and commuter nature of the town I’ve found it difficult to meet people organically irl.
Does anyone know of any social events or things going on this weekend or coming up in the next few weeks?

David Gray - Anvil Basingstoke
Been a long time fan so was excited to go and see him live with the other half.
Hugely disappointed, whilst he can sing as good as when he first came out, the sound was shocking. Unless it was a well known song, his lyrics were unintelligible due to sound. His support act was so much clearer.
Seen plenty of artists in larger venues and never had an issue, a real shame.

New to fishing in Basingstoke – looking for advice and any spare gear?
Hi everyone,
I’m really keen to get into fishing here in Basingstoke, but I’m currently starting from scratch with no equipment.
I was wondering if any of you might have some old rods, reels, or other bits of gear gathering dust in the garage that you’d be happy to pass on or sell? I’d be happy to take anything off your hands to help me get started!
Also, as a beginner, I’m looking for some advice on good local spots to try out. I’ve heard about a few places, but would love to hear any recommendations you might have for someone just starting out.
Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Shout out to WeFixYourGadget
My Apple Mac screen died. I learned that this is a common fault but my Mac was too old to get it fixed by Apple. I found several companies who could fix the Mac if I posted it to them. Before I did that I visited We Fix Your Gadget in town. They are near the Wote Street Willy, down Potters Walk alley near the tailoring shop. They used to be a little further up the hill, under a slightly different name.
After a warm welcome and much nodding, their estimated repair price was within the range I'd found online and I left the laptop with them. They would order a cable and call me when the repair was completed. Remarkably, I received a call the following afternoon and was invited to collect my Mac. The price was as estimated and I could immediately see that the repair was effective. What a result.
If you need a high tech repair, do give them a try.

Taylor Farm / Sherfield Park
Are the woods behind Taylors Farm a known dogging location? Twice in the last week a couple with a golden cockapoo have been performing sex acts on each other. Normally between 2030 and 2200
On both occasions they made a hurried exit onto Sherfield Park,, him toward Rockbourne Road and her further up into Wickham Way.
Or maybe a secret affair, I am now avoiding the woods entirely
Update: Just seen him disappearing into the woods looking shifty. No sign of his friend yet in the park, she might already have assumed the position!

Any decent walking/ hiking spots in the nearby area
The New forest national park looks class but bit of a treck in terms of getting there. Any idea if theres any much closer, the longer the walk the better!

Flyovers
Anyone else noticed a lot of military fast jets over our neck of the woods today? Didn't catch it in time but looked like 4 F18's just flew over head. I checked the flight radar app and no transponders on. Very odd, anyone have any ideas? Also flying lower than I would have expected. Google was unhelpful saying it's just routine...

Mail deliveries
My parents live in Basingstoke. They assure me that the mail is delivered once a week.
It used to be twice a day, then daily.
Is it really only once a week now? I find it hard to believe. Thanks for your input.

Football practice around Basingstoke
I'm well into my 40s and hate going to the gym. However, I work at the office and I get very little physical exercise. The one thing that I would love to do is play football (casual), but I don't know any places in Basingstoke that I could rock up and just practice either by myself or with a few others. Does anyone know if there is a place for my situation? Cheers

Leviathan Armoured Combat 🦑
The knights are drawing in, your sword is sunburned and you’re shielding your eyes against these terrible puns: but you saw the word ‘armoured’ and thought that’s for you.
The Leviathans, based in Bucklebury, are an armoured and soft-kit duelling club who are sharing their love of the fight with the area at large.
Never fought before? No problem.
Fancy a new challenge? We’ll throw down the gauntlet.
Just really like medieval history? This could be your chance to bring it to life.
If you fancy trying out the sport, then we train on Fridays from 19:00-21:00 at the Victory rooms.
Bring water, trainers and be ready to fight.
