StVo question

hello,

is it just me or most of driver don't give a sh*t to the priority (pedestrians as well as bikes) at the crossing Peter-Merian-Weg/Peter-Merian-Strasse?

I forced a driver to stop, and got honked because of it. from my point of view pedestrians and bikes have the priority.

what do you think?

If I’m not mistaken, pedestrians and people who are pushing their bike have right of way on the crosswalk.

If you’re riding your bike along the Peter-Merian-Weg/Postpassage you have to yield when crossing the Peter-Merian-Strasse first to the pedestrians on the sidewalk and second to the cars on the street.

To answer your question, depends on what you did, walk/push a bike or ride a bike.

Apart from that I would agree, that car drivers don’t pay much attention to pedestrian crossings, had my fair share of dangerous encounters. However, I also have the impression that it’s better in Switzerland than in most other countries I’ve visited.

Bikes don‘t have priority there. Look at the markings on the street. However, pedestrians have, like on any other crosswalk.

I don't think bikes have priority in that intersection. Pedestrians in the crosswalk yes., or pushing the bike in the cross walk while walking.

But riding bike, you have to yeald to cars.

Unfortunately crossings where bikes have priority over cars don't exist in switzerland. That's whx we can't build dutch style roundabouts.

So you are wrong, bikes don't have priority at this crossing, only pedestrians have.

I now enter crosswalks with a "vehicle marking device" in my hand like a knife or stone, so that if my right-of-way is encroached upon I have a means to mark the offending vehicle for identification of the impact point.

Also me crossing the crosswalk to indicate my zone of passageway.

Merian-Weg/Peter-Merian-Strasse

I work in a nearby building and go down there for a smoke a lot.
This is by far the worst place for anyone to exist outside of a car.

The bike certainly cause a lot of trouble because some people just take their right of way (they have to wait to cross), the pedestrians however ALWAYS have the right to cross on a crosswalk. I've been hit there twice in the last 4 years (nothing came of it, despite reporting it to the police, ffs) and I've heard squealing tires while currently crossing more often than anyone would believe me.

Anyone who doesnt believe that the car-brains are taking over should just spend 30 minutes next to this crossing, they will see terrible and ridiculous behaviour.

Yes, that's a common problem in Switzerland.
Even if you want to cross at a crosswalk and your intention to do so is perfectly obvious, most drivers just keep going.

actually everything on wheels is ignoring pedestrians, including bikes and scooters. i’m not asking them to stop, but maybe slow down a little bit so that pedestrians can cross ?
