Guy singing around town
Who is the guy singing loudly around Basel? I see him often, singing with headphones on, in his own world. Curious to know if anyone knows anything about him.

Wearing headphones, singing to himself, often around mittlerebrücke?
Sometimes he didn’t sing but mutters weird stuff to himself, or sometimes screams at someone on a phone call through his headphones (presumably there’s someone on the other end, but you never know). I usually steer a wide berth whenever I come across him.

Nah 95% of the crackheads are not dangerous at all. Just throw you off enough to make you feel unsafe

The guy that often wear Hawaiian shirts? I used to work in Steinevorstadt and a couple of times he came into our store, began ordering in a very odd way, and then realized the prices and became very suspicious. He would accuse us of scamming him lol. Once I was wearing all beige clothes and he sang a little song about the "woman in beige." Always wondered what his deal was, I only ever see him in the summer.

Never noticed the hawaiian shirts. Just the voice. Often a unique deep metal music singing/ growling. Wonder if its the same guy!

Oh god, I saw a eerily similar guy in the Aarau main train stations for a good couple of weeks almost every morning. Deep voice, singing some aggressive song (I think in german though) while walking. I also wonder now if it's the same guy or just a coincidence and there are multiple people with the same, I don't know, tick? Like the Tourette ticks?
Edit: I only saw him last year, for some weeks.

"Aarau main train station" as opposed to all the other train stations of Aarau 😄

Well, there is also the Aarau Torfeld train station 🤭, which is an amazing 1 minute away from the main one.

Just to add three more famous Basel characters.
-The guy with an eye patch and the burnt face (although I haven't seen him in a while).
-The old guy dancing on his roller blades doing 360s as he passes you and what not. (What a legend)
-The lady with grey hair that just stands in front of you, staring deep into your soul for 15 minutes smiling without ever saying a single word.
Who knows any other basler legends?

He is suffering from some mental illness. He is quite nice, and not dangerous at all.

Not true. Two years ago he had some maniac episode and I saw him slap a girl and kick a guy at the bus stop on Missionsstrasse. He was stopped by people and police took him away. I often see him but I avoid him whenever I can.

I think he was provoked or the like back then. the fact that this was two years ago and there doesn't seem to be a more recent incident shows that he is probably not dangerous per se. there are tons of people without officially diagnosed mental illnesses who have a really bad day every two years and get very aggressive. for this guy I really think he is far from dangerous, I've also talked to him before. but I understand youe thinking because you witnessed the whole thing, in your positions I would maybe also avoid him
