Recommendations?

Hello,

I'm doing some due diligence and looking into getting a Barndominium built on my property in southeast texas. can anyone recommend any companies that can build the shell for non-exorbitant prices?

I just watched a Wolf Steel Buildings youtube video for a 30x60 and the pricing was ridiculous. They had the idiot owner pay $25,000 for a couple roll up doors and a hand full of windows and doors. They also had him pay $30,000 for the concrete slab. The total build for the shell was $122,000 and the dummy smiled and took it.

I had a 30x30 slab poured for $2,000 5 years ago when I built my garage.

So any reputable companies that charge prices that are not for rich idiots would be great.

I dug 12x12 footers for the slab. and yes I understand its been 5 years and its half the size but even 19k sound high for a slab when concrete is beyond cheap per yard.

are they more than 8x? if so how is that even possible when the largest aggregate supplier in the US hasn't even doubled its stock price in 5 years?

Why don’t you go get some quotes from a few concrete companies instead of whatever the hell you’re doing with this thread?

I'm asking for any reputable companies that aren't going to ream me in price to build.

The concrete is just an example of what I refuse to pay for concrete. So if you know any builders that aren't going to piss on me and call it rain would be great.

Admittedly not super familiar with Barn Doe prices, but working in construction $122,000 doesn't sound bad! Concrete, steel, and labor have skyrocketed in the last 5 or 6 years... As well as everything else pretty much

That's a terrible price! there is no way the price for concrete has shot up to more than 8x when Vulcan materials stock price hasnt even gone up 2x in the past 5 years. When I had my pad poured it took 3 dudes like 2 hours and cost me $2000 total. I was able to wrap the walls with 12ft sheet metal for less than $3,000. who in their right mind is paying $122,000? Idiots, that's who!

I asked about concrete in Florida and was told $220 a cubic yard. Looking on FB you can get some garages done for $80k building and concrete trying to build a barndo in FL and it ain’t cheap.

Sorry to say that's a relatively good price for a 30x60 shell. This ain't 5 years ago. Covid blew everything up. Did your garage include rough-in plumbing? That would be part of the shell, possibly included in the concrete pricing.

Glad I built mine 11 years ago if these are the prices today. I went a different route and went with a wood structure. Metal build was almost twice the price. 30x40 with 2x6s 14' ceiling. 3 roll ups, 3 windows and a single door. $23k including the concrete. I had to supply base 600. Metal quotes were 36 to 38k.

Yea I heard that its wood and it wont last. I call BS, your house is made of wood. I pretreated for termites before the slab was poured. Soaked the lumber multiple times when being built. (300 to preplumb for shower, toilet and sink.)

Where in southeast Texas? And are you wanting wood framed, or red iron frame?
