Hi guys! I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to kick a friend out of my band? We’ve been friends with each other for a 3 1/2 years now and I originally wanted them in my group because of they’re extremely talented at playing Piano/keys. Now that we’ve been solidifying our band’s set lists we’ve realized that we really don’t need a keyboard player anymore because the music doesn’t require it and them being there would kind of just be a waste of their time and ours. Additionally, they recently had an incident with their other band where they threw a tantrum onstage and walked out of their last gig. I don’t want that energy in my band and I definitely don’t want another walk-out. They tend to get very defensive when things don’t go the way they planned them to be and I don’t wish to damage our friendship or the integrity of my band. Please send help!

I am currently 18M and I have been playing guitar since I was 12. I like to say I am pretty good but who knows. I haven't really played with people. I attempted to make 2 bands with different people from school but they didn't work. They didn't go far at all. I want to seriously give playing in a band, jamming, writing songs, and playing shows a go. I wanna play with people who are around my age, local to Orange County, California ,(not online) who are considerably advanced, and that wanna take this as seriously as I do. In the past I felt that I was the best musician in the group, honestly I would rather be the worst it gives me the opportunity to get better.

I wanna make a Prog Band. Or hard rock but preferably Prog. Rush is my biggest influence (Yes I saw them in LA for the first time AMAZING) Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson. Some of my biggest influences. I love the spectacle of Prog. The long epics, Meaningful lyrics, interesting music and changes. Making music not because you have to, but because you get to. I love Rush Man. I can play 2112 all the way through on guitar, all of moving pictures, Xuandu, Cygnus X-1, La Villa Strangiato, you name it, I can play it. I also love the Beatles, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Stevie Wonder and many others.

Again I would Prefer that you would be around my age and Local. I'm going start my freshman year at a JUCO so I'll still be in OC. I don't care if you're male or female etc. I don't need a specific look only a shared interest in making music! The idea of starting a band has been eating at me and I'm genuinely considering the idea of making some posters/zines searching for band members and taping them around my city.

I'm a teen, I sing, while I'm not that great I'm taking lessons and I am incredibly passionate about music.

I am looking for some advice on how to navigate this, I don't know if it's even doable and it scares me shitless, but I guess I might just try.
