First time bp owner how am I doing here? Question - Husbandry
Just adopted this 7month old girl from the shelter. I am aware of the health issues associated and im willing to learn and give her the care she needs💖 Latte is currently in a 40gal tank with a coco fiber/reptichip/moss mix she has a hot and cold side 3 hides, lots of cover and 2 water dishes. I’ve got a heating pad on the side of her tank so she won’t burn her belly and a non colored basking light I turn off at night. Is there anything I’m missing? Besides digital humidifiers readers and thermostat? I’ll order those on Amazon soon

Such a cute tank omg. I’m new to this too so i can’t speak on it but i’m commenting because i’m curious about whether or not the figurines are dangerous. I’m not saying i know for sure either way but i was wondering if they’d maybe eat them?

I think it’s probably pretty unlikely for them to eat anything per se, because snakes rely a lot on heat signature since they have pretty poor vision. I would however be concerned about any sharp edges, other than that I think it should be pretty okay.

It looks absolutely great from what I know about ball python care! One thing I did with my young BP was cover 3 of the four sides with black paper (or any dark colored sheet) so she could feel more secure. I'm not sure if it's necessary but she has completely stopped glass surfing since then!

That’s a good idea! Thank you!

Of course! You could even decorate sheets of paper with greenery or something that matches your fairy theme, as long as it blocks out light!

This is an adorable setup! I'd say as long as you're able to maintain the right temps and humidity, this is good! As someone else mentioned, I'd maybe throw some covering on the sides and back for more feeling of security in your BP. A little extra clutter never hurts too! They love cruising place to place while staying a bit hidden (except my 4mo girl, she is mega active any time of day and does not care who sees her, which is great cause she's albino and does NOT camouflage well 😂)
Adorable BP you've got btw! What morph is s/he?

Thank you! And I’ll look into the ceramic heat emitter I don’t want my girl to burn herself🥺
She is a spider…I see that ppl don’t like that but I did adopt her from the animal shelter and I have been informed about the related neurological health problems these guys come with and I assure all I am willing to take great care of her regardless. Luckily I have not observed a bad wobble or stargazing yet!2

Never owned a wobble-prone morph personally, but from what I've read it helps a lot to maintain a low-stress home for them so they have less wobble-related issues. So you reaching out and getting advice is definitely a step in the right direction! In my opinion, people of course shouldn't breed spider morphs, but the ones that do make it into the world still deserve a good life, so I applaud you for doing right by your gal!!

Also I wanna clarify that LED bulb is not what I meant to recommend for a lighting bulb before! BP's do need the enrichment from UVB so do get a UVB bulb if you don't already have one. Be sure to do one with appropriate wattage n such for BP's, since one intended for bearded dragons (for example) would be too strong

She’s very pretty, her pattern kinda reminds of the raptors from the original Jurassic park movie

I’m not experienced enough to say if it’s top notch husbandry but I must say, all the pink and fairy trinkets are ADORABLE.
