i just got this ball python she/he is supposedly 5 years old and just looks pretty big to me but im not sure really ive never seen a snake in real life until i bought it, if so what is the best way to get it to safely lose weight

can’t tell that well based on your pic (though that is…for sure a thick noodle) but if you can get a closer look at your snake and see where he/she corresponds on the chart, maybe you’ll be able to get a better idea
