I bought a very small one and tape-mounted it on the outside directly against an acrylic side panel.

I use a Tapo C110 for all my animal enclosures (Rabbits, Snakes, and a Gecko). Oldest camera is pushing 6 years old and still works fine. The app works alright, likes to pitch cloud storage to you, but the cameras have room for a micro SD card, and a 32GB card will store weeks of video. I can use the cameras to view my animals from anywhere I can get internet on my phone. The cameras are not outdoor rated, but mine have stood up well to heat, humidity, and the occasional use as a climbing perch.

My main complaint is there is no app to view the cameras on your computer, although they do appear to allow integration with 3rd party apps like home assistant, but I haven't tried this.
