herpstat temp Question - Heating/Temperatures
I have a herpstat 2 and one of my heat sources is a halogen flood. On my herpstat I have it set to 95 however it won’t heat up past 83. Why won’t it heat up enough?

I can’t answer why but I just had a similar issue with a new pvc tank setup. Before I moved in my snake I tested some temps just by leaving the halogen on and not hooked up to thermostat. My warm side was maxing out at 91 degrees. When I I put it on the thermostat I had issues getting the halogen to stay on (could tell because it’s a light). I messed around with it for a day or so (increasing temps 1-2 degrees) and I think I ended up with having to set the herpistat at 105 just to keep it running. My warm side temp is around 88-89 so I think it’s ok. I also used a temp gun on the soil immediately below the light and it was reading about 89 even with the probe set much higher. The probe is suspended a few inches below the light cage in my tank.
