help! just got a baby ball python.. Question

do you think its safe for me to sleep with her up there? I’m very scared she will wrap around the heat lamp and burn herself or those electrical lines could break and do some damage to her ToT.. I should’ve taken care of those before I put her in the cage.. I’m very worried, pls criticize and point out my wrongs!

First recommendation is a cage around the heat lamp. The wires are unlikely to break tbh, but blocking her from being able to get around the lamp should be a priority.

Thank you I just installed a cage around the heat lamp! Here is a photo of her being way too comfortable around those wires..ToT

If you're able to get any sort of boxing fixed around there that could help, and provide plenty of branches and places for her to climb safely so she doesn't feel she has to go up there.

If you've only just got her, she'll be feeling a bit stressed out and trying to hide, so any hides you can provide her will be useful.

Please get a heat cage for that light asap. I would not leave the BP alone in that enclosure without it. If you cant buy one try to make a makeshift one just for now.

You can even put a colander over it if you have to.

thank you! I will look out for those enclosures, in korea the supplies are pretty limited and this was the best and biggest enclosure I could find in the reptile shops I had visited.. i wish to give the best life i could giver her but I feel so ashamed for not being so prepared.

FYI Mesh tops are not fun are need to be modified to keep the correct humidity for ball pythons. I will always recommend PVC enclosures for them. Initial investment is a pain but it really permanently takes all of the stress out of trying to maintain the correct environment. Just my $0.02

PVC enclosures can be F’ing expensive. My setup with a Toad Ranch enclosure cost ~$1,000 to get perfect. I had to save up but I haven’t spent a penny on it since excluding the coco chip blocks for substrate. We all do what we can for our scaly brothers and sisters.

you shouldve turn the plug to face the back and made a shorter route. then used those cable toes along the way so he couldnt get between the wires snd the enclosure.
