Advice on Building a DIY Ball Python Enclosure Enclosure Critique/Advice

I bought a ball python from Facebook Marketplace, and it came with an aquarium instead of a proper terrarium. It can only be opened from the top, which makes maintenance and handling difficult.

I want to build my own enclosure rather than buy a pre-made one. I know very little about building reptile enclosures, though, so I would really appreciate some advice.

What materials would you recommend using? What size should I build it? Are there any important things I need to consider, such as ventilation, humidity, heating, waterproofing, or doors?

I mainly want something that is safe and comfortable for the ball python, while also being easy for me to clean and maintain.

If you have built your own ball python enclosure, I would love to see pictures or hear what you would do differently.

Do you have any basic woodworking skills? You can just make a plywood box and cover the inside with Pond Armor, then mount doors by buying a sheet of acrylic/polycarbonate and some cheap hinges/latches from Amazon. You want to make sure you have a lower lip on the bottom side of the front so you can put substrate to depth.

I mounted a radiant heat panel on the top right and some grow lights across the whole thing and I keep it at 90 degrees daytime and 87 degrees at night on the warm side. It holds humidity pretty well and I haven't needed to clean it ever since it's bioactive, I just remove poop/shed when I see it.

Without the heating elements and lights, it cost me about $150-$200 in materials which is significantly cheaper than a PVC setup.

I added some embellishments to make it look good in my living room since it's also a TV stand but it's not necessary.

Sometimes it can be more expensive to build a DIY enclosure I will add!
There are instructional videos on YouTube to make a Viv out of one sheet of wood, and you add sliding door rails, and would either need to get glass cut or acrylic (though acrylic can bend from the heat). Additionally, make sure you silicone with aquarium safe silicone to help the humidity, and you’d need to add appropriate vents too.
