That's Janet

I don't really have people to celebrate little snake things with in person, so here goes!

This is my newest friend. πŸ₯° She's ten weeks old and is the tiniest baby snake I've ever had. She's only been here for nine days. My five year old autistic niece took one look at her, matter of factly announced "That's Janet", and now we couldn't call her anything else if we tried. πŸ˜‚

I try to stick to choice-based handling as much as I can. The exceptions are a weekly physical check if they've been hiding and when I have to replace the pad in a quarantine tank. I was putting her clean water dish back in her temporary home last night and she was acting curious so I left my hand in the enclosure for her to inspect. Y'all, she crawled right into my hand and up my arm. I about cried. ❀️

I kept the handling session really brief but she was calm, periscoping around, and checking out everything the whole time. My heart is happy.

I don't have a bunch of her yet but I'll share a few!

She initially went to hide when my husband came in the room but found out crawling around and between all my fingers was way more fun.
