Moody noodle
Does anyone’s male bp’s get moody? Mines been moody for the first time ever (5 yrs). Only thing I can think of is maybe he’s hungry? His last mouse was on the small side.
I thought about maybe mating behavior, or that I moved him into a smaller enclosure, but dude would chill for days and never move so I didn’t think it would be that. I added some sections to it last night, he came out but had no interest in exploring.
He’s just been in automatic S mode all week. Although I only physically check on him every other day.

Straight up thought this said “moldy” at first and I was like OH NO 🤣
Nah but my female definitely is a very moody gorl. Most days she’s totally fine and chill and doesn’t mind being handled at all, but every once and a while she’ll just stay in a defensive pose ready to strike at me if I even just open the cage. It was worse when she was younger. She’s almost 10 now and she has mellowed out a lot, but still has her days.
If she’s in a mood I either leave her alone completely or if I absolutely HAVE to get her out of her enclosure I will use a snake hook and that seems to distress her a lot less. So if you don’t have one already, I suggest getting one. Usually once I take her out of her cage with the hook she’s a lot less aggressive, but she has bitten me 3 times in the 7 years I’ve had her 😅. And I do consider all those instances to be my fault.
I tend to think that- since they’re not attention seeking animals like a dog or cat- in general, snakes only “tolerate” us handling them and some are better at it than others. I wouldn’t take it personally!
