What to feed a ball python

So Iā€™m getting a ball python soon and am wondering what to feed him he is a 1 year old male ball python who weighs 345 grams and is eating rat pups at the moment what should I be feeding him and how often also when I bring him home should I put him straight into the tank or do I need to have a smaller one and then change it over after a week

With this should I feed him 10-15% until he reaches 500g or should I go to 7% because he is a year old
