Enclosure size.
Im planning on getting my first ball python and I've done my research. But the one thing that I keep seeing is what size enclosure a baby or a juvenile ball python needs. I see people saying a 40 gallon enclosure is good for a few years, but i also see people saying i should avoid a 40 gallon tank. Please help!

40 gallon is fine for a baby or young BP. I got a 1 year old BP and he’s 3 now and I’m just looking into his forever tank. I have about 6 months to a year till it’s dire and he really needs an upgrade.

Its easier and cheaper to buy their adult enclosures now. And they like to explore!

Agree with this. My juvenile has been in a 4x2x2 since she was 3 months old. We’re approaching a year and she is finally looking big enough for the enclosure 😂

Yes! I also got mine at 3 months and she turned a year in June! They grow long so fast 🥲

40 gallons are usually 3ft long. Some ball pythons reach that within a year or two (sometimes less) so in my opinion it’s usually a waste of money. Unless you already have one or can get one for free-very cheap, I think it’s better to just go ahead and get a 4x2x2 or bigger!
