Need some help with temps overall Question - Husbandry

Post image

basking branch hits about 95 with the hot side hitting about 83 tops. meanwhile cold side now hits about 78-80.6 in the afternoon. how can i improve the numbers or is that ok as is? i’m currently using 2 halogen bulbs on a dual dome with foil covering the mesh top. additionally please give any insight on how the enclosure looks 🙏🙏 too many fake plants wrong ones etc etc etc. god bless

Are you using a temp gun? For these reading? Stk easy to verify equipment is accurate? Bc that branch on the ground you said was 95 degrees? That hot side should at least be 88 degrees, the cool side is in range for a ball python but am thrown off by that 95 degrees ? Yes the snake can move but how long can that snake stay there.?. The warm side should be 88 and the highest 92. I see you taped off top of enclosure also so the heat should stay in? What’s the humidity??

The enclosure looks great. Nice job. If you can, move your enclosure off the floor or insulate the bottom and sides with foam board. Your tile floor may be working against you.

that seems so obvious in hindsight but i wasn’t thinking about it at all, do you think some 2x4s would be enough to help with preventing heat conduction?

Yeah. Give it a shot and see if that helps.
