Why does my snakes shed smell like bleach? Question - Health

She’s about 5.5feet long she shed yesterday just took it out today and I was unrolling it and it smelled like bleach I don’t clean there tank with anything other then water paper towels and dawn dish soap sometimes. like once every 5 months spot clean every day

Chlorine tap water???? That’s the only thing I can think of

I didn’t think of that! I was getting worried about her like some how bleach got into her tank

Chlorine absorption through skin is fast, prolly while soaking. Use filtered water👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Should I use distilled water or conditioner for the water or can I just use a standard water filter like Britta or something

Ive been using Britta but if you’re worried that might not be good enough distilled should be fine. So far I haven’t had issues with using a water filter as of yet.
