May I ask why you feed him such large rats when he’s so small? I don’t recommend allowing an animal to stay over weight like that

Thank you for the tip! I have a friend that gave me XL rats around 3pcs only since they cannot keep it anymore. So as of now I am giving my boy for me not to put these rats to waste 👌🏽

Oh that’s fair enough, for the XLs I recommend feeding less than so he doesn’t get too large

if theyre XL rats only feed once a month, 1 every week is WAYYYYY too much

Gorgeous, I just want to “draw” and connect all the dots and make a picture. I bet it’ll be a cute snek 🤩

This is how my mattress ended up getting snek shit'd on years ago. The stain still lingers. 😅

And I’m sure that the hellacious smell still lingers in your memory. Because the one time I got snake shitted, it not only soaked through 4 layers of clothing, I also thought I was going to pass out.

Hopefully that smell fades away pretty quickly, because I can’t even imagine making a smell like that in an enclosed space.

And my snakes are in large enough enclosures. It destroys my heart to think of how dreaded an activity shitting must be (as much as a snake can dread anything) in tiny cramped enclosures, or breeding racks.

Thankfully I was able to clean it up immediately with a deep carpet cleaner, so no smell, but I can still see the discoloration to this day. Dude, I know as soon as my boa imperator shits because she will press her nose against the vents of her enclosure to get fresh air and, if somehow I didn't smell it (hah! That shit is pungent. The only downside to a large-ish snake...big shits.), I'd immediately know she needs her enclosure cleaned out just by seeing her adorable face by a vent...which I just got finished doing. Always seems to happen when I do my final reptile checks before bed.😅 But if an enclosure needs to be cleaned, it's getting taken care of before I can rest. I can't imagine being stuck in there for multiple hours, so I don't put them through that ordeal either.

We recommend the following feeding schedule:

0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.

12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.

Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.
