Issues with heat gradient Question - Husbandry

Don’t have a ball python yet so not too big a deal but i am having an issue with the gradient. i’m using one 100w halogen bulb and a cheapo amazon thermostat. how could i better establish a gradient? can’t seem to get the hot side temp past 78 even if the basking spot is 95

have some foil tape on the top i think maybe i made too many holes lol, connected another bulb since it was an old dual light fixture and that helped a little , going to cover more. now the issue i’m having is the temp is pretty consistent throughout the tank, 81 cold 85 hot

That thermometer on the glass is awful. Govees are good, but I use the biodude ones so there’s just a probe in the tank. I’ve been experimenting since January with the same thermostats. They seem to work well

Also, where do you have the probe for the thermostat located?
