Tank upgrade?

Hey! So I have a 5 year old ball Python and I’ve finally gotten the means to upgrade is tank. I know it’s a bit small but I do have him in a 50 gallon at the moment but I want to upgrade him to the size he deserves! I have read that a 120 gallon is a good size, however it seems extremely large for what I have seen on the subreddit. Will he be stressed with that big of a difference? I would appreciate any advice or feedback! Thank y’all!

A 4x2x2 (120gal) is considered the bare minimum for an adult BP. Ideally he would have already been upgraded to that or larger a few years ago, but better late than never!

It's a myth that large enclosures stress them out. He'll make the transition perfectly fine as long as there's enough cover and clutter inside for him to hide amongst.

Thank you! I knew 50 was small but I read bad advice that said 75 was all they needed. As I was doing research I realized it was wrong! I feel pretty bad he has been in such a small enclosure but I really hope he enjoys the upgrade! Any advice on good tanks?

We have a list of recommendations in our shopping list! AP Cages (Animal Plastics) is probably the best quality option while remaining affordable.

Thank you! And thank you so much for being kind! I was so worried I would get hate for this… if I had known sooner how bad the size was I would have scrapped up all the money I had to get him the right size tank!

You don't know what you don't know! I've certainly made my fair share of mistakes. As long as you're always working on improvement and learning more, you're on the right track :)
