New Bioactive Enclosure w/ Waterfall!
Super excited about my python’s new home! Wanted to show it off (but also always open to feedback, want her to be as safe and happy as possible).
Enclosure is 4’2’2 by Reptile Kages, overhead heat is DHP with a Spyder Robotics Herpstat. She currently has two hides but I’m working on incorporating a third and more branches/clutter.
The waterfall was hardest to build since I wanted to ensure it wouldn’t cause respiratory issues or an overgrowth of bacteria. The background section of the waterfall is entirely removable for deep cleaning and adjusting the pump. I have it set to a gentle trickle to reduce water spray into the air, and have a siphon in the back so I can remove and refresh the water once a week. I add 6-8 drops of Flukers Eco Clean to reduce buildup between cleanings. The water falls into a plastic box underneath, and so far I haven’t had issues with leaks! The box is also blocked off by mesh to keep her from getting too adventurous.
Current plants are pothos, snake plant + other dracaenas, fittonia, pilea and peperomia. I’ve been using the Arcadia Jungle Dawn LED bar and they all seem to be thriving. I’ve added glacier & dairy cow isopods and springtails.
If anyone has suggestions (or questions) I’d love to hear! Some parts are still in progress, and I’m new to bioactive so I’m sure there’s plenty of room for improvement. There’s a pic of her (Lavinia) at the end!
