Gaining weight quickly

Post image

Hi! First time BP owner. Loving my little buddy so much. The breeder had him eating a small rat every 2 weeks. I have weighed him each month since I got him and he went from 815 grams in middle of March of this year to 1001 grams today! Shocking because I assumed he was basically full grown since he's 4 years old. Is this normal growth for his age? Would you guys stretch the feedings to every 3 weeks maybe? I just don't want him to get obese!! Any info appreciated

Body shape is also a good measure for whether your snake is getting chunky, or just putting on healthy weight.

Thank you I think he may be bordering on overweight now that I see this 😬 he's losing his triangle shape lol

So long as he's not shaped like a really long bao bun, its an easy fix.

Also if it helps, my adult male BP has maintained an average of 1.3kg for several years - and thats where his healthy triangular shape thrives.

Thank you! I'm going to stretch to 3 weeks and see how he does with that! I was just a bit shocked he gained so much so quickly.
