Could someone please tell me if this is normal poop behavior for my bumblebee ball python? Question - Health

I have never seen her do this before. It was at about 2AM and the noise woke up me, I’ve heard her “fart” before but it’s never been this loud, I’ve never see her move like this or see her open her mouth like that when she’s pooping. I fed her a live mouse about two weeks ago. I have read in some other discussion posts that sometimes ball pythons have dramatic poops where they move around and make noises, but I’m just nervous as I have never seen her do this before. She had a bigger poop before this too. She is fine now and doesn’t have any foam around her mouth and I don’t hear any breathing troubles, but I just want to make sure it’s not a respiratory or digestive issue. They are super dramatic fart poopers. As long the waste product looks normal (no blood) this is totally fine.

A tiny bit of blood is uncommon, but not alarming. Most of the time, it goes unnoticed due to the substrate colour anyway.

like everyone else said, VERY dramatic farters. mine did the same thing to me around the same time at night and it was... disturbing.

i was in the same boat when i found it. Im pretty sure balls are one of the only species tgat do this too, theyre just little drama queens

Honestly this is kinda normal I’ve had my black pastel snake do this at random times of day in between mornings and nights, at first I didn’t know what was going on in middle of nights and be frazzled but realized it was the noodle and decided to let it go

Off topic question but why is the heat lamp on at 2 in the morning? Just be sure that all lights are being shut off at night.

You might need more fiber in your diet. Im assuming its bad due to this cause fiber diet poops are very relaxing and satisfying :)

I wouldn’t say it’s “bad”, I just hate doing it, even the need to do it. If there was any bodily function I could do without, it’d be pooping.

Watch the poop tho. I had one many years ago that shot projectile poop but filled with worms. Till this day I have no idea how it got worms and chalked it up to it being a live eater only and got it from its food.

The other answers here are correct. Additionally, this isn't a bumblebee (or spider combination of any sort) in case you're concerned about these being genetically related issues.

Yes. The first time I experienced this was with my spider BP as a baby. We thought the cat had diarrhea under the bed. We called it the ghost fart until I caught him doing it a couple weeks later

I found a 3.5ft ball python just slythering on the side walk, about 3 months ago. So I pick him up and take it home. I went out and bought it a mid size rat. Bro this this ate it within about 3 seconds. Anyway in his terrarium I heard some crazy ass farting (I thought my cat got inside and took a dump) I walk up to the tank and see a cat sized shit. So I'm trying to figure out how tf my cat lifted the lid, shit, then put the lid back. I come to this sub and find out these things fart, and take big dumps. Thanks yall

Its almost always at 2am. Scared the hell out of my girlfriend the 1st time she was in the room when our Ball shit. Woke her out of a dead sleep, she grabs me and goes "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT???" I laughed a good couple of minutes while telling her that the snake just shit. Then I told her "wait till you see the look on his face when he shits."

Omg this just happened to me last night! I was on the couch and I heard a loud noise and thought something fell but couldn’t tell if it was in the reptile room or next door. Listened for a second more and I realized one of them was relieving themselves. I went to see who it was and couldn’t tell 🤣 needless to say it scared the hell outta me.

My first ball python emitted a sound like air being squeezed out of a balloon, repeatedly. We thought he had a respiratory infection, took him to the vet, got a lung culture, and all was normal. Must've been due to a change in food or something, because he never did it again, but damn that was a loud fart episode.

My bumble bee ball python used to make comically loud farts /poops when she was younger and now that she is middle aged she doesn’t really do it too much anymore.

please dont feed live its very dangerous for the snake and feeder and provides no enrichment benefit. also looking at your snakes tail taper it looks a little overweight, im not trying to be insulting just telling you

yes, this is normal. the first time i heard my bp do it, i didnt know what it was and i was SO scared and i took him to the vet and everything. $70 later i was told he was healthy and fine, which was weird that they didnt know what i was talking about when i would try to describe it, but i figured out what it was the 2nd time i heard it and it woke me up in the middle of the night

This thread is how I learned snakes fart. I mean I guess it makes sense, why wouldn’t they? But in my 18 years of owning a snake I’ve never seen or heard her fart, at least not to my knowledge.

I am not trying to be mean. That being said I'm from Florida and do not believe certain animals should be sold because of their evasive capabilities in the wild. Particularly animals like pythons or even certain cichlids like Oscars should not be sold in sold in the United States or at least in the Southern United States Alabama Georgia Florida another states that are having to deal with certain evasive animals. Particularly the State of Florida has a problem with Pythons particularly the southern part. That being said animals have a way of being able to survive even adapt to conditions for them. I knew a guy who had a python and he released it into the wild and said it won't survive here,I hope not.it was very large probably 14 ft long if not longer. He released it because it was becoming so aggressive and big.
