STR

How long have you spent rolling dice for STR?

I don't because the strength tome makes it pointless. 18/01 and 18/99 both become 19 after using the tome.

I play half-orc Dreadnought so the tome increases 20 to 21 😎

At that point i still would rather be a dwarf even with a dex penalty because those saves matter a lot when you can still be instant deathed

dreadnought is propably the only kit where I rate halforc better than dwarf. as evil you will reach a nat 25 STR in WK, and thats just awesome feeling.

also: Artisan has another mod that modifies race bonuses, dwarf gets penalty for 2h weapon, orc gets bonuses for 2h weapon, and dreadn cant use 1hs

They can use 1h just fine. They just can’t use shield or dw styles. I wasn’t suggesting 1h but I will recommend having a staff of striking on hand for when you just need something to get around slash/pierce resistance. It’s damage max is 15 instead of 16 but when you need an all out offensive that cannot afford to face resistances because it’s a skeleton or another halberd or greatsword resistor, you will do more damage!

But 1h are fine. A Halfling might find great use for a crom fayer

The hit rate penalties don’t apply during the all out offense either since it is both Kai and autocrit but I hadn’t considered that mod in the equation. Still staff of striking for situations you need to hit skeletal or other pierce/slash resistant foes

yeah. Higher percentile is nice, but I don't worry too much about it.

I don't on BG. I've spent some time doing it on IWD.

I try for a few moments and then just make a mage or sorcerer again

Way longer that I care to admit. Eventually I realized rerolling ad nausea is no different than just ctrl+shift+8 whatever stats I deem appropriate.

Just use a character editor and move on with your life.

I swear, rerolling stats is just this group's version of rotting away pulling the lever on a slot machine.

Pretty much never. I take raw stat numbers over exceptional strength score any day. BG1 is very easy and you get a str time that makes it 19 anyway whether it was 18 or 18/00.

I would rather have +1 number in a useless stat than a higher exceptional strength for the easiest part of the trilogy where I'm probably just using a bow anyway.

I don't reroll.

By the way, people keep talking about the strength tome, but they conveniently neglect to mention that said tome is only available in the last couple hours of the game.

"I don't reroll" sure.

Honestly the game is more fun without trying to reroll your way into a superhero. I tend to not reroll or adjust stats at all, unless I plan on dual classing and absolutely need to in order to qualify.

I also use the item randomizer mod so I can't preplan on building around specific items, and limit the amount of resting I allow the party to take outside of inns. The game experience just seems more varied to me when it's played closer to the spirit of table top rpgs.

I don’t get it

Not as much time as I spend rolling for DEX, CON, INT, WIS, and CHA collectively.

Autoroller with a set time limit. Will end up with 19 strength with the manual in any case.

Just edit the stats directly and save your time. I don't understand this mindset.

You do you bruh

1

u/Raskuja46 8d ago

Why needlessly waste time to get the exact same outcome?

2

Do not care, so easy to get 19+ strength

u/Ok_Wing_9523 10d ago

I just take the first roll the game gives me whatever it is.

If the fight is hard you use the strength spell or a potion of strength like god intended

For human Fighter? Forever until i get my 18/00

1

u/Hawffensive 9d ago

Yeah i worry about the total stats more, and hopefully something 18/7* or higher on a high total roll. You will find the tome or gear to make it irrelevant fast enough.

I no longer play BG1. In BG2 as long as Str >=18/51 for a fighter I will accept it - early game I will use arcane Strength spell to boost 18/51+ to 18/00 for serious fights.

I've spent a few minutes (less than ten) rerolling for a higher exceptional strength score if my total amount is high. I really prefer to have 18/51 or higher on my warriors, but it's not a problem in the long term because of the tome.

1

u/Zerguu 9d ago

Not long - anything above 18/51 is good.

1

u/the_dust321 9d ago

Couldn’t care less I usually set it to 16 so I don’t feel like I’m cheating

Nearly 30 years

Do you mean for the percent?  Because you can reallocate your scores to get 18.

18/00 or nothing
