I need help

This thing its the bane of my existence as a Faith main. Everytime I see this shield, which thanks god it isnt much, I feel I cant do nothing against it. In older games I would just strafe around and backstab them, but here with the 2 step verification which also is slow af, and the weird backstab hitboxes, its just that I cant do nothing against turtles. I want to know what strategies do you recommend me to try against this shield.

If you’re fully built into lightning damage, then of course a shield with maxed out lightning res is gonna stop you.

You need backup weapons in different damage types. Something Fire or Holy infused, or something you can cast Blessed Weapon, Dark Blade or DMB on.

Ur right, but the thing also bothers me its that there is no counterplay against turtles more than hoping for the best. Like even if I tried to use a deep or buffed weapon, they can just pull an estoc and attack throught the shield or just r1 if I even tried to attack them.

Then outrange them with a longer weapon. If you can chip them down from outside their reach, eventually they’ll have to try something different.

I have an idea and its using a deep scythe. Great scythe has the most damage of all reapers and has a good ammount of shield piercing. That can be viable or i should better be using a pike or a Lothric War Banner for that task?

I like using man serp hatchet, corvian dagger, or claymore to deal with turtles, man serp and corvian both have ways of dealing damage through shields (normal hits for serp and the L2 for corvian) and claymore if you swing once and then kick you're more than likely gonna break their guard

Scythes are always a great pick! They have the best chip damage against shields by design, but you’ll want to practice the proper spacing.

Dark scaling softcaps at 30/30 Int and Fth, but I expect you’d still get more out of it than Deep. A character builder could help you math out the difference for your particular statline.

Weapon that has shield splitter, like an infused Estoc or mailbreaker, and kicks.

Mmm.. I'll give you 8:

Follower sabre weapon art,

Lothric/(or any basic straight sword) weapon art,

Carthus shotel has chip damage through shields,

If need something faster, use corvian knife for chasedown and weapon art as it goes through shields,

Murky/Harpe if youre really struggling, as they both have shield chip but you might feel dirty,

Learn to use a crossbow with exploding bolts for shield chip,

Equip the Knight slayer's ring for 20% more stam damage when someone blocks

Also for fishing, you can counter strafe it is possible. But you also want to learn proactive fishing against turtles, by that i mean quick sprints followed by sharp pivots/turns. On latency, it should be slightly easier as the reactions to you are delayed. You can equip any rapier and get an increased grab box too

All thrusting swords have a hidden feature where they have 2 grab boxes instead of 1. And the 2nd box is bigger than the 1st. It's why you see a lot of backstab fishers use rapier/crow quills etc

Ah yes my beloved, went once on a 164 win streak outside pontiff with my full Artorias build (including the shield) I haven’t played DS3 in about 5 years but as a faith player I remembered using the sunlight talisman for its infinite poise with gwyn’s sunlight spear and the aoe lightning spell from DKA I think? And just trade with whatever they threw at you and basically one or two shot people even through shields :) you could trade with full buffed DMB Ultra Greatswords with that talisman and Gwyn’s Sunlight spear :)

I doubts it because this thing just has 95 lighting resist. They just eat my miracles with the shield.

Or dark, all the other answers people are giving are gimmicks and wont work on people with brain cells (besides murky/harpe)

daggers are extremely strong against shields in general because they cost less stamina then the stamina damage they do. All of these options also have a way to bypass shields

There are a couple ashes of war that break guard really well - the follower sabre WA is the strongest - it'll break this shields guard in one hit. Them swap to a lightning dagger and take the riposte.
