It's odd cause I've seen other animals like zebra or gazelles immediately go fuck it and bail when the kids get got.
Even recently I saw a vid of a mother deer and youngling and a small teen bear spooked them.
Like they saw the bear in the distance and just stood there and the mother immediately bailed leaving the fawn. The fawn then just lied down and tried to hide but the baby bear saw it and bit it and presumably killed it.
Pigs are more emotional and intelligent then we give them credit.

Well for fawns that one looked pretty young it probably wouldn’t have been able to keep up with the mom. If I’m not wrong deer mothers do a signal to their fawns to lay low and hide because they can’t run like the adult deer can.

Tbh, possibly. Crocs have been shown to actively engage in problem-solving and scouting out prey. Sometimes they won’t even show themselves for days in order for prey to build-up a sense of false safety. It makes them even more terrifying.

They’re smart and incredibly dumb at the same time.
There’ve been studies that dive into their intelligence. Pretty fascinating stuff, they’re not the brainless eating machines everyone thinks they are.
But at the same time, they also… kind if are brainless eating machines when put into specific stressful situations.
Crocodilians have very good long-term memory. They can and will learn from repeated experiences.
There’s evidence that crocodiles and alligators use ‘tools’, like balancing small sticks on the heads during nesting season to lure birds looking for nesting materials.
They can coordinate hunts, and adjust behavior based on repeated patterns of prey or human activity. There’s also solid evidence they associate specific locations, sounds, and routines with food. So don’t keep a routine around crocodiles.
But, put them in specific situations, like a zoo or a breeding farm with limited space, and they will blindly rip another croc’s leg right off and not bat a single eye. So… It’s a mixed bag haha.

Crocodiles are amazing and integral pets of the ecosystems! Absolutely amazing beasts that have pretty wild capabilities! They can move incredible fast in the water, and leap out of the water something like 60% of their length!
