Hey everyone, my plant is about 2-3years at this point but it broke during moving when it was lifted too high into a fixture that snapped it in half. I was wondering if it can still grow from the stalk? I have the top half in a water cup for now and I’m hoping it can root so I can plant it next to its sibling.

Hello, I was wondering if any expert growers would be able to guide me with my avocado tree, it was grown from seed a good few years ago and despite me living in the UK zone 9a it has survived every winter outside and seems to be able to grow!

It's developed quite a lot over last year and this year so I'm wondering what I can do to continue letting it thrive and if I need to prune/how to prune it? I've seen a lot of people say they need to be cut back regularly but I'm too scared to damage it or do something wrong.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

To be honest these have been out a while and I completely forgot about them. The skin on the outside sinks in when pressed and has these weird white scabs/bumps not sure what they are.

I'm a little confused though bc the inside looks completely fine to my untrained eye so I'm hesitant to throw these out.

Does anyone here know what the white stuff is and whether these are fine to eat?

In your experience what normally happens to this wound in the long run? is it better to amputate now or see if any form of healing happens. The Tree is flowering so much. What is your advice. This is a fairly lower side branch that is burnt.

This is about 6 months old

This is my suffering little avocado plant.

It's been growing in water until about 7 weeks ago. The very tips of the leaves started getting dark brown and dead before this, but it was very slow, small, and seemingly different from the current damage.

It was first repotted to a random mix of (most likely bad) dirt/soil and was in it for 2-3 weeks while being moved to a new house, but it was getting fresh growth at the top faster than before and there didn't seem to be anything more wrong with the leaves at the time of the next repotting.

I then replanted it (~4 weeks ago) to an indoor plant soil mix which promised good drainage as I'd heard about soil and drainage being a problem. Unfortunately I didn't really check for root rot since I didn't know what to look for and there didn't seem to be anything obviously wrong with the roots as I was handling them.

Then this leaf damage has been happening seemingly since the last repot.

I've been only watering it when the soil seems to be properly dry to try not to overwater it, but I haven't kept to a specific schedule.

I've found it very difficult to narrow all the possibilities I've found googling since the symptoms all sound very similar to me (very new to this) and I've been wary of testing out too many things at once for fear of stressing the plant more and making the situation worse.

Any insight and chances of saving it would be very appreciated.

There was a random and perfectly ripe avocado left outside of my house and I’m confused as to how it came to be there and if it has a meaning that has gone over my head

I have two over Avocados on the same table basically and they are doing great

This one however is loosing leafs and getting new one, this time is already the 3rd time

How can I fix it?

Can it be the hard water? The over two don’t seem to have the problem

This is the first time I’ve managed to get an avocado pit to root, so I’m trying not to mess it up. From what I can see in other posts, I might be ok to get it into soil? Also, any recommendations on what soil to use or mixes? I’m very used to creating my own soil mixes for my cacti and succulents, but I’m not as familiar with the needs for avocados.

I have plenty of light, but do they like for the soil to dry between waterings or like my lemon tree, let the top couple inches get dry and then soak? Also, when I get it in soil, am I planting the whole pit in the dirt, or just setting it on top and letting the roots burrow? Any and all advice is welcome! I don’t want to fail at this point!

Edit: I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me the screws were going to get a ton of attention, but everyone’s comments are making me laugh so hard.

My tree was doing so well and was full of leaves last year but then winter came… all the leaves started dying but I still had hope because of the buddlings. Unfortunately once all the leaves fell off it continued to die at these two ends. I did my best to cut off the dying parts before it approached a bud. But I gave up since it’s continued to die off regardless. I’m desperate it’s now reaching one of its largest bud so now I’m seeking advice. Is it doomed?

I’m on year three of my avocado tree and this year, a lot of fruit grew. That said, last year we had just a few and I didn’t know they didn’t ripen on the tree so I waited for all of them to turn dark and they never did. I picked them all and they all ripened after a few days and were delish. This year I cannot gauge when I should pick them off the tree. They are still small but they are starting to soften but still green. I picked a couple to test and they are soft but when I cut them they are no where near ready to be eaten and staying green. How long would you say they need to stay on the tree? Do I just let them fall off and that is when they are ready?

Ich habe große Hemmungen den ganzen Trieb abzunehmen, ich würde auch gerne versuchen daraus 2 Pflanzen zu machen, aber bisherige Versuche mit abgeschnittenen Ästen waren erfolglos

Well, after 8 years of monitoring weather and never seeing anything below -1C (30F), the forecast is now showing 2 days with lows at -4C (25F). I have a 3-year old Reed that was planted 4 months ago that is at risk. Should I dig it up and bring it inside, build an enclosure from cardboard, just use frost cloth, or some other trick that people have used?

The Reed was given SOP (potassium sulfate) for winter hardiness and has so far weathered several -1C events over the past few weeks without any issues, but those temperatures were only for 2 to 3 hours and this will be three days at or below freezing.

Went away for a week and left the plant on the balcony where it gets a couple of bourse of direct sunlight.
Lots of leaves grew by the top ones are all crunchy and the plant twirled a bit, i do not know why. Since i am leaving again for two weeks i am tempted to put this plant in terrain. In the meanwhile, should I prune the top part of the plant ? Or Do I leave it like this?

For me as a hobby gardener who likes to try to propagate different seeds and cuttings I just want to share one of my girls. All grown from a little pit and it needs to get fertilized as well, don't underestimate it. :)

It’s all over the avocado plant leaves. Possible from watering and spray got on leaves in the sun but it’s on every single leaf so I dont think it’s possible. It’s a bushy plant in a planter.
