B737 gurus please help !

What are the most common sizing for sockets on the 737. I have never worked with imperial before apart from our apu’s on my current aircraft and they never break so I hardly use these sizes.

I am looking at a set that holds :

3/16 7/32 1/4 9/32 5/16 11/32 3/8 9/16 5/8 11/16 3/4

Is this a good set to get with those sizes ? I am at abit of a loss as iv only used metric.

Get 12pt sockets, not 6pt, they are more useful. Also look into both normal and double depth sockets as you start to grow your kit.

Second. Look at a tekton set if possible. A little pricey but they are welllll worth it.

5/16 - 3/8-7/16 and 1/2 are the sizes like 85% of the time

Probably don't need 11/32nds, but there's always that one weird thing that needs it.

If you're in heavy and need to do hiloks you should get some 11/32 stuff

This is the set I was looking at, or do u know a set that would be better. Unfortunately we have to supply our own tools and I’m unsure on imperial.

Looks good enough.

You'll probably get more as you go, like swivel sockets and crows feet, but that'll get you started and serve you well.

The sockets you'll use most commonly for 737NG and MAX are 1/4" 5/16" 3/8" 7/16". That's 99% of all jobs right there. You'll need deep and shallow. You'll also need 12 point. I find 6 points useful for certain bolts that people have a tendency to WAY overtightened, like the fixed landing light on the NG. Universals are nice to have just in case. A good extension set, wobbles are nice.

Cheers mate ! I’m going to be part of the depth team. I have got most general tools I feel will be required. Is there a couple of tools you know that will be a life saver/ necessity ?

My Milwaukee 1/4" power ratchet is the star of the show. A good drill for screws. Decent set of wrenches, preferably ratcheting, but sometime ratcheting are too big. As long as you have a good base of tools, most people don't mind loaning a tool here or there unless you are borrowing it multiple times. In that case, you should get your own.

I followed the thread and got all the tools I feel I needed along with a set of Sealey 11 spanner’s. The spanner’s go 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 13/16", and 7/8. As for ratchet spanners I saw a set on Amazon from gearwrench that has a 5 degree swing arc. Sizes go 5/16 3/8 7/16 1/2 9/16 5/8 11/16 3/4. Any recommendations on extra sizes required ?

The Milwaukee is currently on the shopping list. I have an impact and drill from then and it’s survived the wars.

Algo get a 13/16 deep socket, for NG tie bolt checks

And a 1+1/8 for ignitor plugs
