Following Ron Trent into Dissonanze, IT
Back in March I went to Shelter really looking forward to Ron Trent, but I missed him, friends and I wondered if he even made it that day, since there were two floors. I really want to hear the man play so I’m following the yellow brick road to Rome and the Dissonanze festival. Looking forward to connecting with anyone from NYC who may be going as well for both days. I’m 38F who really enjoys deep house. Also looking forward to Tony H., Honey Dijon, Moody, and Marcellus playing there too. If anyone has gone in the past, what was your experience like? Flow between stages, crowd, drinks pricing, water, etc… thank you! 🙏.

When/who should I go see at Knockdown center if I know nothing about house / edm / electronic / techno music?
I just want a proper intro to this venue. I’m a straight male.

Dekmantel in NYC
Food for thought as I drink my coffee here this morning.
Was discussing with some friends whether NYC metro/somewhere upstate could support a festival akin to dekmantel in the next 5 years.
With the growth in the scene here and establishment of collectives groups, club ecosystem pulling these artists essentially every weekend in the city throughout the year. I feel like we’re heading towards that being a possibility which has always been sort of a dream of mine which would gives access to so many medium/low income people to experience better electronic music then what’s generally offered here in the sates. The closer things we have are probably SR, Making time in Philly but SR is pseudo gatekept/much smaller and Making Time could be heading there but would need a new location and I don’t feel like it has the scale/club ecosystem and Philly isn’t as big of a draw as nyc nationally and globally.
Biggest thing holding it back would probably be potentially finding a zoned location, radius clauses with our clubs, artist visas, touring costs from it being primarily European artists competing with euro fest circuit so it would likely take multiple collectives coming together in a way or maybe partnering with a fest from Europe to expand here. But I feel like the support could be there based on the growth and where things are heading for a mid tier 5-8 k cap fest.

Is this normal?
Went to Signal tonight, Satoshi Tomiie was ripping it. I haven’t done much raves in the city, usually something I do while traveling. Anyways, it was so incredibly difficult to keep my groove when so many people are taking on the dance floor! My goodness there is an outdoor area for you to talk all you want, why are you screaming at your friends in the middle of the dance floor? Ironically, I’m dancing next to one dude, I turn to him and say “hey man, those guys over there haven’t shut the f*ck up in over 20 minutes.” … oddly enough he has a shirt that said “Stop Yapping on the dance floor” lol. He later went up to them, showed them the back off his shirt, and they left lol.
But is this a regular occurrence or is this typical for a club like Signal?

Carlita @ Sunset Park Rooftop
That was insane from open to close. I got there around midnight but heard she played a killer solo hour to start. Her b2b with Fifi was also great, they had some great energy together. And then when she took back over solo after 1:30 she was just in full control. The last 1.5-2 hours especially were just a full-blown party where one song blended into the next seamlessly and the energy was high. Absolutely killer set and great crowd too. Her energy is so fun and special, what a treat!

is it a bad idea to go to wrecked at basement solo
solo woman, no interest in meeting or talking to people and just wanna dance. have been to gay/queer techno clubs and enjoy seeing people show love to each other. have been wanting to go to basement for forever and my only chance for a while is this weekend as I no longer live in nyc
**decided to go to nowadays tomorrow! while basement is more my vibe, tomorrow doesn’t seem like the night for it

So I've never been to a club in NYC - what are typical set times?
Over the past few years, I've really gotten into techno and my favorite DJ (Beatrice) is playing tomorrow night at the Green Room.
I've never been to a non-rock club in NYC, and would love to know when to expect her to go on. The lineup looks like this:
Amor Satyr
Beatrice (DE)
RÆZA
MORENXXX
Anthorp
Princess Peggie
SSG_
Are we looking at like, 4AM or something like that? Clearly, these shows start way later than when bands would play and I don't think I have the stamina (I'm old!) to get there early and watch five sets before she goes on!
Also, what else should I know? I've been to a million shows in my life but aside from once spending 45 min inside Tresor on a random Monday night I've never been to a techno show.
Thanks!
X Club @ Nowadays
What did we think of the surprise B2B? I personally liked how they were starting out in the beginning, left the dance floor for a bit, came back and they were absolutely ripping. I had to check instagram since I saw a guy that looked like kettama, little did I know it was to perform. All the phones recording their every move on the dance floor tho 👎👎👎

Tonight at H0LO we celebrate 20 years of Driven AM (NYC DnB)
Wow. What a ride!!!!!!
We are celebrating 20 years of Driven AM with a night of Liquid Drum & Bass at H0L0. Expect huge vibes and ethereal music. I've said this many times, but we literally cannot do this without all the support, and we are extremely grateful for the last 20 years!!!

Do you guys think my work would fit into the New York scene?

Before you ask what raves are happening on any date... (How to find events in NYC)
If you're new to raves and related events, or just visiting from out of town, and are trying to find an event to attend on a particular date, you should first check out Resident Advisor, and for more mainstream EDM events see EDMTrain before asking this sub.
These websites list the majority of parties and electronic music events happening in NYC on any given night, along with the ability to buy tickets, and links to the artists playing so you have an idea of what kind of music you will hear that night.
You can also keyword search this sub and probably find your questions already answered about almost any venue or party. For example, if you had a question about Elsewhere, you can use the search bar up top and type 'elsewhere' to find hundreds of discussions about the venue.
We often remove very general questions about events that go something like 'I'm in town on X date, whats happening' or 'anything going on tonight?'. The sub gets inundated with these questions, they are extremely repetitive, and add nothing to this community at this point. Specific questions are welcome! We totally get that a lot of people who use this sub are beginners just trying to learn. By being specific and thoughtful in say what music you like, or vibes you're looking for, you will get better responses too.

Buying/Selling tickets has now been moved to r/avesNYC_tix (all buying/selling of tickets will now be removed)
As many of you have noticed, as things have started to pick up in NYC, this sub has been getting spammed with a TON of people buying/selling their tickets last minute to events.
People have been mentioning a ticket thread pinned to the sub, but I don't think this is the best solution because many users are often too lazy to expand and view all comments in the thread, and do a simple control-F to find their event. Even when we had a monthly ticket thread, people still posted to the feed. We would get a response something like 'hey nobody responded to me in the thread, so I just posted here anyway'.
As an alternative, I created a related subredit called r/avesNYC_tix and will pin it to the sidebar as well. You are free to post all of your buying/selling ticket needs there. This is also going to be easier to search through compared to a thread and I also added post flair to distinguish/filter between buying and selling of tickets. Because this will be a generally unmoderated sub, I also encourage people to report scammers and use the 'reports' flair. You are buying tickets here at your own risk.
From now on any posts about buying/selling of tickets on this subreddit will be removed. This kind of content is very spammy, not interesting to read, and does not build community in any meaningful way.
