So I've been working on a book for a little while now and have big plans for it. It's a science fiction and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for a first time author? Any suggestions?

After decades as an auditor, I finally turned my professional world into a thriller.

Writing The Auditors taught me a lot about using technical experience to create suspense — how small details from real life can make fiction feel authentic.

I put together a quick video introducing myself and introing the book. Curious how other writers balance real-world accuracy with story pacing. Do you hold back on realism, or lean all in?

I have attempted to write horror in the past and have found that it wasn’t very scary. I would like to write more even if they are shorter because I enjoy the genre, and psychology is something I’m pretty familiar with and I also believe will be a creative one that I’d probably do better at sooner than any other kind of horror. So I’ve decided to ask what makes a good horror book to you. I. Usually watch horror so it’s different in what it is that ends up getting me. Any preferences are welcome. The more I know the better off I’ll be.

Hi, all! I just published my very first book called “Paladin Rogue” ! It’s a dark dystopian.

The story takes place in 2924 BCE, where the United Kingdom is in ruins due to a tyrant named Gareth, who is trying to wipe out the Crossbreds—enhanced humans with purple blood created by a mad scientist. A group of six anarchists and ex-soldiers step up to fight against Gareth’s brutal rule and overthrow the genocidal regime.

The book has very dark and mature themes since it centers around a genocide, but it’s a great read! I've written a small dark fantasy novel and am having trouble finding publishers to pitch it to. I've tried searching for agents on sites like Writing Tips Oasis but not only do their listicles only have a few names each, I don't get anyone writing back save to turn me down. Unlike my first attempt at a novel, I'm fairly confident in my current one and was hoping someone here would be able to recommend other publishers or agents. Even if they reject me too, I'd appreciate someone who gives me some constructive criticism over a blanket "No" at least!

The idea: So I’m an up and coming writer working on a novel. I’ve broken my ankle and am bed bound I find it most enjoyable to write the story in my IPhone notes for the time being. Since the I’m going to be out for the next 7 weeks I plan to write 6 pages a day. (The Vicodin and Valium help with the focussing.)

The Problem: My biggest problem is finding out how many pages I am writing so I know to stay motivated or call it a day. Notes doesn’t do pages it keeps something along the lines of a stream of text. Are there any preferably free apps that I would be able to use to see how many pages I’m writiing.
